I don't have any proof, and I wasn't expecting any performance increases, but something has changed for the better.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I've had my PSE mufflers on for about 500 miles now. I still gets lots of compliments on the sound...
...But I'm starting to think it might not be my style. It's a little loud and I find myself missing the stock 02/03 sound, especially at high RPMS. I think for some people, the PSE is great, but maybe it's not for me.
So I'm wondering if I should now invest more in getting the vacuum lines and switch installed or if I should try and sell the kit for someone who wants PSE more than I do. I don't even know what I should expect for a PSE with 500+ miles on the mufflers. (I have the rest of the kit which is still brand new)
What do you guys think?
Nova996,
I have had mine on for the last week and find that the PSE is quite loud till the boxes warm up. Once they are warn and I change gears early enough the units are quite reasonable in audible "noise".
If I push the gear changes to the limit, it screams its heart out which I love
At the same time though I have installed the full electrics and find it usefull when I have the top down and talking on the phone. I don't think it is possible to do that without the silence mode initiated.
I have also found that the silence mode is still louder than that stock mufflers but not that much louder.
I personally wouldn't change back to stock. I would invest in the vacuum lines and when you feel like you need a bit of a growl let loose and turn it off.

If you do decide to sell the PSE, and want something a little more than stock, check out GHL. Ask here or on other boards for opinions on them.
I purchased a set of the GHL mufflers during the Rennlist Holiday sale for <$700 shipped. As we all know, exhaust sound perception is an individual taste thing, but I think they are "just about perfect" because of just what you're concerned with. Inside the car there is a very subtle difference. The cars sounds much like stock. With the top open or windows down, the car sounds fabulous. Makes me want to open up the car to hear them. The wife hasn't complained once, and that's important for this car. Plus, I know that throttle response picked up immediately upon installation. The car seems easier to get off the line modulating the throttle and clutch. I don't have any proof, and I wasn't expecting any performance increases, but something has changed for the better.
Good luck with yours.
Dwayne
Installing all of the electronics and vacum properly is a huge undertaking, not worth the hassle IMO. You should easily be able to sell the PSE right here on Rennlist. I agree it can be pretty loud, but it does seem to mellow a little with time, but still almost too loud in the morning unless you keep the revs down IMO.
Thanks for the tip on the GHLs. I'll have to check them out.
I'm somebody who listens to single ended triodes, so maybe I have just have sensitive/weird ears or something. But for whatever reason, I end up shifting earlier with the PSE because of the noise, which has the net result of making the car less fun for me.
I'm afraid if I invest more money in getting the lines and switch installed, I'll end up keeping it in quiet mode most of the time and then I will have wasted a lot of money I can spend on my other cars instead.
I must admit if you think you will only ever run it in silent mode then put back the stock exhaust. You are right for the cost of the vacuum and electrics install you can do quite a few other mods
As DJ996 said, you should be able to sell the PSE without any issues at all.
