Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A slight altercation with a Lexus resulted in my front bumber getting repainted - did not match at all! The overall color was lighter and the "flip-flop" of redish tint occured opposite from the rest of the car. The body shop agreed and is taking the car back in. How much of a challenge are they going to have properly matching this color? Am I up the creek? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Ed, The key to repainting any metallic car is the direction which the paint is applied. If the flakes in the resprayed area are all facing a different direction than the rest of the car, the color will look different. There are people that can perfectly match the paint. If you were in NY I could tell ya where to go, but not in VA...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ah ha. I'm using a place that the dealer recommended as doing good work. To their credit, they prepainted the bumper so the car would not have to sit in the shop while they did it, but now they will have to take the car anyway. Are you saying that the actual spray job has a direction and an impact on the look, or that the paint flakes end up reflecting in one specifc direction but that it is random? Thanks,

POST 4Original post

The direction they spray it from. My brother has a one off color on his ferrari, Dark Green metallic flake. He was in an accident, had the front end and hood resprayed, you can't tell, in any light from any direction. The guy that did it said it has to do with direction that it is sprayed from....

POST 5Original post

maybe its because they did the bumper only, since it sits on the car horizonral, and they definitely didn't spray it that (probably verticle).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
