There is nothing like the depth you get from the nice clean black paint job.

Suggestion
Since metallic black always looks dusty, then in my mind this makes it a little easier to keep clean on a daily basis.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Which is more resistant to dings, stone chips, and swirls? Does one hide stone chips/swirls better than the other? Which one fades or gets duller over time more assuming equal care taken with both. Do both have a clear coat? Which is easier to apply touch up paint to? Is one paint thicker than the other? I like the look of the flat black better when it is clean. Thanks
I had the same dilemma.
Ultimately went for "regular" black because the metallic looked dusty no matter how clean.
I beleive both have clear coats, the metallic would be harder to touch up.
there is no paint/color more resistant to dings, stone chips than other. however, light metallic color like silver is the best color to hide swirls, of course no need to mention swirl on black & darker color.
stone chips are very easy to touch up on none metallic color but very hard to do/match on metallic color.
i'm a very **** person & can't stand swirls. before i ordered my car i thought about yellow, slate grey, seal grey. in my opioion those colors are better looking than silver on TT, but finally i still got a silver just to save the pain for later. if Porsche have a metallic yellow in the future as a standard color i'll get it for sure!
The non-metallic ("regular") Black will show swirls more, but is easier to apply touch up to. I love Regular Black and have had at least one black car in my garage since '86. Leon hit it on the nose as far as my 'concern' with metallic black--it *always* looks dusty. Since metallic black always looks dusty, then in my mind this makes it a little easier to keep clean on a daily basis.

If you're gonna slack--get the metallic.

I had the same dillema. I prefer black cars and have always had one. The bottom line for me was-why pay more for paint that IMO does not look as good when clean?
There is nothing like the depth you get from the nice clean black paint job. I have had people see my car outside and ask me if it was raining as the car looked wet...what is sweeter than that??
Mik911, Has it right in my opinion. my '93 C2 is midnight Black Metallic, and (mybe I'm lucky), but the dreaded swirl syndrome does'nt show up like other pure black ones. I like it.
