I didn't widen the rear (kept it clean)- I didn't want to cut into the actual frame of the car - I'll wait to buy a TT/C4S cab down the road for that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's finally complete. 1999 C2 Cab Conversion. Before: After:

POST 2Original post

Nice! I hate to even think about the $$ that went into that conversion

POST 3Original post

jkim996, what a fantastic conversion! You could be this year's "MOD MAN!" What's next..got anything planned for the interior?? Great job! Don

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Don! It turned out great- working closely with my bodyshop was time consuming. I've updated the interior with the aluminim shifter and ebrake and installed the B&M Short Shifter along with Gemballa pedals. I think I would like to put in a 7" Pioneer 7500 Touch screen nav. For the wheels - after reading the threads on the complicated big red conversion - I may just powdercoat the calipers to red. I am contemplating on the fixed wing- possibly closer to spring. I've purchased a battery maintainer and cover to put the car to sleep til then.

POST 6Original post

WOW!! That looks amazing...just as it is, no wing needed... Red calipers would really stand out, you should at least go for the red powder coating... Don...he's giving you a run for your money on the mods

POST 7Original post

That looks amazing!! Now....on to widen the rear fenders...j/k

POST 8Original post

Great job! Any ballparks on what the total conversion ran?

POST 9Original post

Are those real Turbo parts or replica parts meant to fit the narrow body 996? Bobby

POST 10Original post

I would never have imagined that a conversion could come out looking so nice! Great work. Are you looking to sell your old black aero front bumper? If so, PM me.

POST 11Original post

Very nice....do you still have your old aero front bumper?

POST 12Original post

Yes, please enlighten us. What did it take to pull this off. Just new lights and a bumper cover in front, or was it new front fenders and and hood as well? And what about the wide body rear bumper in the rear on a narrow body car, how did that work out?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for your feedback! Real Turbo parts- no fiberglass here. The rear TT bumper was modified- not cut. I didn't widen the rear (kept it clean)- I didn't want to cut into the actual frame of the car - I'll wait to buy a TT/C4S cab down the road for that. I compensated by buying 19" rims to fill out the space and it finished off the car nicely. Ruf did a nice one similar conversion using kevlar. Keep up with the posts- I may release this car first to Rennlist members- if I catch the TT bug over the spring/summer.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All of the parts were sold down to the Big Oval Tips. I kept the sideskirts.

POST 16Original post

Beautiful--looks like they did a great job painting it.

POST 17Original post

Wow!! Your conversion is AWESOME! That's exactly what I'd love to do to my 1999 996. The front and rear turbo bumpers ROCK! Great job. Beautiful results. Congrats.

POST 18Original post

Man thats awsome.................i am so inspired now.........IT CAN BE DONE

POST 19Original post

anything can be done if you pay enough. Bobby

POST 21Original post

Awesome Job!!! Im very impressed and also mad at you at the same time!!! Give us the details on exactly what was done and ballpark $$$ of you could.. And of course one suggestion.. paint your bumperettes its a nice touch..

POST 22Original post

Hi jkim, I am from Mclean, and my Pcar is there right now. Can you let me know who you worked with as I am looking for a front bumper respray on my aerokit front. I like the paint on yours so maybe they can fit me in when I am back in the states in Feb.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ash, You've got PM- yes get the sideskirts Kevin, nice touch- maybe this spring. My Bodyshop talked me out of the chin spoiler and bumperette painting because those are the most susceptible to minor damage and would peel since paint doesn't bond too well with those parts- but I do like the look.

POST 24Original post

Do you know what was done to wire the Bi-Xenons. Jeff

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Required new harness- had to retrofit the old harness to the new connector for the lights.

POST 26Original post

jkim, bumperplugs.com...they will paint your bumperettes for you $200...won't peel, they've done tons of 'em, check it out...

POST 28Original post

Do you know the part number for the new harness. Thanks. Jeff

POST 29Original post

wow! That looks great. Really brings the car up to latest look.
