Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

maybe a silly question! what is the new car warranty. what was it on 1999 models? i know rust was a 10 year warranty on the older cars. thanks spike

POST 2Original post

4 and 50 on mechanicals, 10 years on paint. IIRC

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thank-you. i read that as 4 years or 50k miles?

POST 4Original post

Yes. But, the 10 years is not for the paint. It is the anti-corrosion warranty.

POST 5Original post

Are you sure the warranty in '99 wasn't 4 yrs. and 40K miles? I had a '99 and I have a recollection that that was the warranty. I now have an '02 and the warranty is 4 yrs. and 50k miles.

POST 6Original post

To be very specific about my knowledge, the warranty on a '00 was 4 and 50, '99 may have been less. I was told it was the same, but I don't completely trust everything I am told.

POST 7Original post

No, all 996 and 986 (Boxster) cars sold in the US since model year 1999 carried a 4 year or 50k mile bumper to bumper warranty.
