Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car came back from it's 1st service last week at 9,500 miles and I noticed that the oil level is now reading full to the top on the dash guage. With it actually showing above the top fill line - can this do the engine any damage ? Thoughts appreciated.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Forgot to mention that the level remains at the same max level when cold, warm and hot i.e. permanently.

POST 3Original post

Mine was like that at delivery and also after the RMS was replaced. It burns off soon enough. I wouldn't worry about it.

POST 4Original post

You may get a little smoking on start up after a hard drive, but otherwise I don't believe it should be a big deal. Check with the dipstick as well. If the dipstick shows a significant amount over the "FULL" mark, you may want that excess drained. You can either have the dealer do it, or use a Topsider.

POST 5Original post

Same here. Never good to have TOO MUCH of anything (or so they say), but it did not seem to harm my car and burned off within a week or so.

POST 6Original post

If there is way 2 much oil - like 2 quarts - it can get sucked into the intake and you will know it right away. I would not worry about it. Like others have said it will burn away. Jeff
