Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would only be concerned about water getting in there - maybe you could have the installer fill the gap for you?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I finally got my car back from the dealer after having the side skirts installed. I'm really happy with the total aerokit look of the car now (see before and after shots below). However, I'm not thrilled with the gap between the edge of the skirts and the side of the car. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if the installer didn't do a good job. Can those of you with the older style side skirts like mine (original "Cup" style, not the newer GT3 style) let me know how big the gap is between your skirts and the side of the car? Also, please let me know if your skirts came from the factory or if you had them installed later. I've included some close-ups of the gap which is just under 1/8 inch. It appears to simply be the thickness of the double-sided tape used to affix the top edge of the skirt, but it's hard to know for sure. Thanks... Here is the car without the skirts...

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...and here is the very nice look with them installed....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And here is the gap I'm concerned about...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As you can see, the gap is just under 1/8 inch...

POST 5Original post

Out of all the ones i have seen they look pretty normal to me, when i was looking for a p-car , i went to a dealer to see this one. I know the pics dont really show what you are asking, but i do recall it was about the same, hope this helps

POST 6Original post

(apologizes for the large pic) Longhorn, I think you're installer could have done a better job.

POST 7Original post

It's funny what you 996 guys fret over!! Longhorn, your 996 looks FLAWLESS in my humble opinion! 3/32nds of an inch or not! I would only be concerned about water getting in there - maybe you could have the installer fill the gap for you?

POST 8Original post

Longhorn, Just got home and checked my car. I have a slight gap, but it is less than 1/8. I cannot even fit a fingernail in the gap. Like Rich said, I wouldn't worry unless water gets in there and loosens the double stick tape.
