I am looking to buy a 996 (or 993) with vinyl or leatherette seats. Is anyone interested in selling? I would prefer a low mileage carrera 4. The reason for needing non leather interior is that my friend is a large animal rights supporter, and the car is for him. Thanks all. I could be wrong on this, but I think that at least the seating surface (area that touches you) is leather in all the cars. Most likely he would have to buy a car that has the seats replaced with aftermarket. Very likely the gear shift and/or steering wheel will have leather also.
Do disrespect intended, but I just do not get it... He wants plastic & vinyl that will be on this earth far longer than any leather product. Last I heard, leather breaks down a lot faster than any plastic.

I appreciate your dilemma. The easiest thing to do would be to recover your seats, removing the leather covers and use something like alcantara. I'm not sure how you would handle the other parts of the car, like the side airbags, but if it's purely the seat issue alcantara would be the way to go.
And no, I'm not a Hindu.
doesn't the base price for the 996 include cloth seats, not leather? i thought leather seats are always put in since everybody gets at least one set of options that include them...
Have you talked to your local dealer about it? They may be able to do a custom order.
Otherwise, look at other models, or at older Porsches, which weren't as packed with luxury as the new ones. Even the 928 was available with cloth and vinyl.
