Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am in the process of having my '00 996 rebuilt and it seems like the shop is finding parts missing at every corner. They are small items like hoses and lines, but they are beginning to add up. He came across one wire that was cut and is missing around a foot of wire and the connector that goes on the end. The only problem is that section is part of a large wiring harness that the dealership wants over $2000 for! It seems a little outrageous for a piece of wire and a plastic plug, but apparently Porsche doesn't sell the connector separately, only as part of the harness. Does anyone know whether I can get wiring harnesses aftermarket or where I might be able to find the part used. All I need is a small section of it.

POST 2Original post

POST 3Original post

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 5Original post

Is one end of the connector still there? If it is, can you take a photo of the connector? Porsche sometimes uses Deutsch brand connectors. If it is that type, I can provide information on where you can get a replacement connector along with a parts listing.
