Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check they had two' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check they had two' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've started looking (casually) into the idea of an old 356. Anyone know of some places on-line to look? At this initial stage, I'd even look at good 356 "kit" remake cars just for a comparison. All of my usual corners on the internet have turned up nothing...
Thanks
Three years ago I found a very nice '63 356B in the classified section of Excellence Magazine. Also, the classified ads in Panorama often list 356's for sale. Finally, there's the 356 Registry. It's on line but I don;t know if you can access the classifieds without being a member. A friend of mine has a concours level 1964 356C cabriolet that looks like it just came from the showroom. He wants a lot of money for it, but if you're interested send me a PM and I'll put you in touch.
Try
www.phillipsauto.com
in Newport Beach, last check they had two. Not sure if their the real deal or replicas. Another site I would check is
www.calmotorsport.com
in Mountain View (San Jose, CA area).
Good luck. Those are great looking cars!
try European Collectibles in Newport Beach CA...they have their inventory listed online. their prices are not cheap but fair for the fully restored Speedsters they have
Thanks guys - these look like a great start. Nothing like dreaming about a speedster and summer while the 996 is all tucked away in the garage for winter.
I too would like a speedster at some point.
When that time comes, the first place I'll go is
http://www.intermeccanica.com
Great site - will make you fall in love with the speedster all over again - and when you're having the car hand built for you, there's lots of fun to be had exploring through the options list.
I've heard it takes months/years to get a car... there is a club site at the .org address.
