Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

59 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Guys, On Friday morning, I flew to Baltimore (from Tulsa, Oklahoma) to pick up and drive home, 40th Anniversary #714. Thanks to Rennlist I had the car PPI'd at GT Performance and Gennady only spotted a couple of minor issues. I flew in Friday morning, landed at 12:30pm, the prior owner picked me up (in his Lexus... I was expecting the P-car), we went to his office and completed the deal and I was driving it home (after a quick sub at Subway) at 3pm. I drove her until about 9:30pm and spent the night in Bristol, Tennessee. After heading off at 6:15am, I finally pulled in the driveway at 8:10pm Saturday evening. After 1,333 miles, she was home!!! It's now up to about 16,700 miles. Here's a couple of pics. The first was in our driveway Sunday morning before I had a chance to spray all the road salt off of it. The second pic was taken on 81 somewhere in Virginia close to the Tennessee line. There was not supposed to be any snow in the forecast and it was definitely a little nerve wracking at 80mph on PS2's! Luckily, the snow went away as quickly as it came. I really enjoy the car so far. Compared to my previous 2000 996, I notice more power, better engine/exhaust sounds (x51?), the full leather interior with the silver accents is more attractive and rattle free, love the 3 spoke wheel, the list goes on and on.

POST 2Original post

Congrats on a beautiful car! Must have been a bit scary on PS2's in blowing snow!

POST 3Original post

Congrats on the new acquisition! My 40th is #1034, so welcome to the 40th Anniversary 911 club... Enjoy!

I've posted this before. The clear lenses are around $30 for the pair. It took me 5 minutes to switch out the pumpkins. So, you can certainly do it - probably in 3 minutes.

I've been travelling and I'm just getting back in the saddle and just seeing your post. Congrats on the purchase. Welcome to the 40th anniversary club!!! Looking at your pix reminds me of when I brought my car home for the first time. ENJOY

Congrats on the 40th. looks very nice. I absolutey love mine (#159). After the clear side markers consider some bumper plugs. FYI my local Mercedes dealer has one with 30,000 miles. They are asking 56k.

Hey Guys- I cannot figure out what button is two spaces below the PSM. How do you manually raise the spoiler? -Ryan

POST 43Original post

Quotes source post: 6578068

Switch on fusebox cover in drivers footwell controls the spoiler. Pic of the switch in question?

POST 45Original post

Quotes source post: 6578071

I will take a pic tonight and upload. Thanks for the info on the spoiler switch. -Ryan

POST 46Original post

Quotes source post: 6578912

On mine two spaces below PSM is an unused space - do you have rear window wiper? If so, I think that's what the switch in question is.

POST 47Original post

Quotes source post: 6578942

On the right switches I have locks, defroster, & rear wiper. The top left is PSM, middle is blank, and cannot figure out the bottom. My dash looks identical to the pic posted on 2/13 by rodsky except I have a button two spaces below the PSM. I looked through the manual but did not see anything. Not that it means much as I did not find the switch in the footwell for the spoiler.

POST 48Original post

Quotes source post: 6578951

If you have a rear window wiper then the manual saya this is where they put the switch - check the owner's manual index under rear window wiper. You could push the button and if the wiper swipes two times then that's it.

POST 49Original post

Reggie called me. He had PSE retro fitted to the car and the button installed. The cans are removed but the electronics are still there. That is what the button is for.

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 6579494

I thought Reggie's car (now yours) also had the rear window wiper - is there a separate switch for that? When he says "cans removed" does he mean PSE mufflers have been removed and replaced with something else? I thought I remembered seeing this pic before - the icon does kinda look like an exhaust tip. Glad the mystery is solved.

POST 51Original post

to bad... PSE are one of, if not the best sounding exhaust out there..

POST 52Original post

Quotes source post: 6579939

The rear window wiper switch is on the right side, 3rd from the top. The stock mufflers were put back on the car. I wonder what the cost would be to put the PSE mufflers back on the car? -Ryan
