Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

Please o please DONT tell them that, our Market will become Flooded like the states, and the values of our cars will become, well dare i say it like Hondas or Fords..............NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well... there is a lot of work in bringing a car up to Canada... its all up to the buyer and the cooperation of the seller... I don't think anybody would buy a car over the phone... it would involve a flight down to the US etc etc.... so I think you have to have a motivated seller... heck if a 996 is selling for 40K down there that is $53 CDN up here... dirt cheap... you can't stop the laws of supply and demand.

POST 4Original post

True However let me breakdown the cost of bringing a car here: Lets say the car one might be looking at is selling for $45,000 USD Converted would be $ 58,333.00 as Dec 8 2004 @ Noon Ok not so bad right....wrong Now add the 6.1% duty fee at the border Now that Good deal isnt so appealing with the duty car is NOW $61,891.00 plus now you add the $ 245.00 fee for Pollution Check , now the car will cost $ 62,136.00 plus the 1000.00(USD) Shipping fee. So far the car has cost one $63,432.00 and NOW you cant forget about our great Canadian Tax @ 15% for a grand total.....of......$72,946.80 Thanks but no thanks ill buy a canadian car...

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should have qualified my previous calculation.... you are correct in your calculations but if you search autotrader.com (US Site) you will find quite a fiew 2000 996 at the 40,000 price level... there are also some under that price... also with a bit of negotiating you can probably get one for say $38,000 USD so according to your calculations that will workout to approx: $63K Canadian.... thats a great deal! also your original calculation of $72K(CDN) for a 2000 996 with some options is still well under market value by at least $5,000... but the whole point is to find one in or around $38 US and you can be driving that baby free for a year or two... Pete

POST 6Original post

I think we should maybe get in business, lets sell P-cars now that would be great. You find the buyers I'll get the cars here, what do ya say!!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You could sure make a lot of dough that way... I'd be buyin them in the winter and dumpin em in april-July... you'd have to sit on some pretty serious stock though... I know some guys who took prestige cars... AMG models (new ones) Sl500 brand new down to the states for resale... but that was when the US dollar was trading at 1.5-1.6... doesn't make any sense now... my how the tables turn!
