I live in Mission Trace, probably a mile from there.
Leading evidence: 'mile' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'mile' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean ppi' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Definitely search country wide and be ready to move on what that passes a clean PPI that you pay for.
Recommend full leather interior if you can find one

Would look for one that has had the motor replaced already and you will likely be fine.

And that is fine - try to fine the best-documented no story car you can and as I mentioned if you get one with a replaced motor you are better off.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Alex and I am an addict......oh wait, wrong forum.
I am looking for a 996. One caught my eye yesterday on Ebay but it seems high to me. I need a tip for my wife who just wont drive a stick. After reading up some here I am leary of the 00 model and would like to find an 02, but I am not having much luck in my price range. I would like to stay 24-25k.
Look at all the options on this one

Anyways, just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the future help.
Nope you got the right forum
25k will be hard for a nice 02+ example even in the tip. Would look for one that has had the motor replaced already and you will likely be fine. Definitely search country wide and be ready to move on what that passes a clean PPI that you pay for.
Best of luck!
Welcome aboard. Have fun looking for and buying a Porsche... not many people are fortunate enough to enjoy that experience.
I tend to favor autotrader.com as opposed to ebay. You might consider giving that a try.
The car in the link you provided is interesting. It has many, many options - no doubt about that. Personally, I think it is a bit over the top in styling. I've never been a fan of chrome/polished wheels, and the red interior with the wood doesn't suit my taste. But.... you're the one buying this time, not me! So if you like it, I would suggest that you low ball it and see what happens. Other than that, I would decide on what options you really like, and which ones you can live without. Things like the wood package, chrome wheels and the navigation system can add quite a bit to the price, and IMHO, they don't add much to the car (especially the nav). I would recommend full leather interior if you can find one.
Good luck!
Touche.....
This is my first venture into the Porsche world, so I am relatively clueless about what to look for. I have been reading a lot on this site and there is a ton of information! The best thing I think is that I am not in a hurry, so I can find the right one for me.
That's the right attitude to have! I think you'll have lots of fun shopping for just the right 996. When I was shopping for a 996, my "must haves" were: AWD coupe, manual transmission, full leather interior, Litronic headlights, reasonable mileage and color combinations that suited my taste. My "nice to haves" were: sport exhaust, heated seats, 18" wheels, Bose system with CD changer. My final catetory was "things I'd accept, but not deal makers or breakers": PCM Navigation, rear wiper, parking sensors.
In my case, I was fortunate enough to come across a vehicle that met all my must haves, and some of my nice to haves. The color combination in my case sold me (midnight blue metallic with natural brown full leather interior).
I just noticed that you are in San Antonio. That's a great town - I've spent lots of time there. I lived for several years in Dripping Springs, TX - just up the road.
Ed, I like it too!
Medtech, well..... your avatar is.... uhm.... what's the word?...... an avatar and it certainly is unique.
I remember my mother telling me that if I couldn't say anything nice about something or someone, then I shouldn't say anything at all. Well, calling your avatar "unique" was the nicest thing I could think of.
I hope you know that I am just kidding about your avatar!
Alex,
Welcome to Rennlist. Good luck with your search.
I lived in SA for about 30 years, mostly in the NW area. We moved away from there 10 years ago but still get back there regularly because most of out family still lives there.
I live on the NW side, Vance Jackson/Wurzbach area. Small world!
One odd thing I am noticing is that people tend to not like the nav. I actually use a nav system so I was looking for a car with it. Is the stock one not worth its salt?
Nice car. Before you make your final decision be certain of the car's history, especially it's engine. And you must have a PPI or CPO certification. Otherwise I think that $28K isn't a bad price, especially for the car that you've shown here on this post.
Good luck.
Jay
With other cars I have found in my search, this one seems high for options I dont really care for or would never use. I think I would like to stay closer to $22-24k anyhow.
The last house we lived in in SA was in Mid Acres, which is where Dreamland dead ends at Vance Jackson. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother that live within 3 miles of the Vance Jackson/Wurzbach intersection.
Alex - I looked for quite a while and just picked up a sweet 2002 for $27K a few weeks ago in Boston. Very few options, but also very low miles (<14K). The deals are out there.
Now all I need to do is drop another $20K to prep it for Club Racing. >JM
I am going to use it as a driver. I am in Custom AV sales, so I get to use a company car during the day for jobsites, service calls, etc. To and from work with the hopefully often hill country drive here.

This one looks nice, I love the color combo. Any opinions?
