I have a '99 996 that was kept in a garage during the winter months (Unfortunately I only get to use it during the summer). The car was serviced last year and it had an oil change. I drove the car only 2,000 miles since the last service, and it now has 40,000 miles on the odometer. What kind of service/ or check up should be performed on the car before I begin driving it for the summer? Do I need a new oil or I am fine with the oil in the car since I only drove 2k miles since the last change ? Thanks.

I change my oil yearly or 10K miles, whichever comes first. Usually the year comes first. Agreed on the 2 year brake fluid & tire pressure. Make sure you check your oil, coolant, and streering fluid levels just to be safe. If you store the car in your garage, look for any leaks/drops on the floor. Lastly, if you don't plan on going out for a long drive, you may want to recharge your battery just in case.

I had the same concern after winter storage. For what it's worth, it was suggested by the dealer that the oil be changed due to settling of oil and any contaminants. Tire pressue is also very importannt and I will have the brakes bled next near.
