Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2001 C2 996 N/A tiptronic. I've had it 5 months now and I'm wondering if this is normal. Whenever I shift at WOT(wide open throttle) the RPM's shoot up 2-300 RPM's, then they drop down in RPM's and into the next higher gear. I always use M in the transmission when driving. Is this normal. It would seem more normal if as soon as I hit the tip botton the RPM's would drop immediately and the tranny into the next higher gear. Sometimes it's a full second or two after I hit the tip button, RPM's go up, then down into the next gear. It seems like this would hurt the torque converter or auto clutches.
My CEL came on about 3 weeks after I had the car. I unplugged the - on battery and it stayed off for a couple weeks. Ever since I put Fabspeed headers, exhaust and Evo power flow intake on the CEL has been on constantly. I can unplug the - on the battery again and it will stay off for a couple more days, but it always comes back on. I think the transmission has shifted this way ever since I've had the car - not since the CEL came on.
Thnaks for your help.

I found that using Auto Mode while street driving is terrible. It upshifts to 4 or 5th gear too quickly. I thought I would never use the Auto Mode.....But then I tracked the car and WOW! Auto Mode works perfectly on the track. When you punch and push the car is up and down shifts perfectly. It took a few laps for the Auto to ajdust to my driving style, but after a few laps I just left it in Auto Mode at the Track.
What you feel could be normal and my feeling is (now ) the same as "Itzkirb's" . At the begining I "suffered" the Tip . Now it's ok. I complained in the 996TT forum and got lots of good advise. You will find some answer reading some of my old posts.
Good luck ! ( Tip is ok....after a certain time !!)
