Don't remember seeing any items on any trees (way too busy to look) but there is a gas station at the end of the run on the NC side that has quite a few pictures of various "incidents" on US129.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Enough of all of this PCAR complaining.....we all know the BEST thing is to get out and drive these wunderkars.... Where are your favorite roads, journeys and experiences??? Lets brighten up this board just a bit I've found some of the best roads in CALIFORNIA here: www.pashnit.com Marin County and Sonoma county have some of the best scenery and roads!!! One of my favorites....: http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway1toLeggit.htm

POST 2Original post

ou are right No.Cal has some great driving roads... I love PCH SF to SB the entire trek has to be done at least once in your lifetime.

POST 3Original post

That's funny I entered my post before I clicked your link... I have good taste

POST 4Original post

is down near the Tennessee and North Carolina border. Try this URL: www.tailofthedragon.com It has 318 curves in a 11 mile stretch on US 129. My wife and I drove it this summer and it is absolutely fantastic!! I definitely recommend it. Also, the Blue Ridge Parkway is tough to beat as well.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep ....heard all about that route...I've even watched a online video clip of some sportbikers that have made that road into quite an adventure....isnt there a tree covered with "broken" bike parts and other memorabilia?

POST 7Original post

i love driving around my parent's house in upstate NY. it's farm country with lots of back roads that are in good shape with no cops around anywhere! that can also get you in trouble though as i found out recently. beware of blind hills!!!!

POST 8Original post

Goldendale down to the Columbia river via Mt Adams. North Cascades Hwy during the fall. Longview to Cannon Beach over the Mountains. Going to the Sun Hwy through Glacier Park. Browning MT direct to Great Falls in the early evening just at sunset.

POST 9Original post

North Cascades Highway and The Sea to Sky Highway

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rob- WOW! Nice highway.... Is that on the way to the BC border in Northern Washington?

POST 11Original post

It's 99 from Howe Sound (North Vancouver) to Whistler. It will be redone for the 2010 olympics. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

POST 12Original post

Don't remember seeing any items on any trees (way too busy to look) but there is a gas station at the end of the run on the NC side that has quite a few pictures of various "incidents" on US129. Lots of road rash for the bikers, a few cars stuck underneath some 18 wheelers that were stupid enough to take this route. It's impossible for something that large to negoiate those curves safely. Check out some of the pictures on the URL. Great topic.

POST 13Original post

I have to agree with russbert. The roads here in Western North Carolina are a hoot to drive. I've only been living here for about three months so I haven't gotten a chance to try many, but one that I especially enjoy is N.C. Highway 221 from Pineola to Blowing Rock. This road parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway but has probably 4 times as many curves with many switchbacks. Deals Gap and the roads around there are on my list for next spring.

POST 14Original post

California 1 (PCH) almost anyplace from Santa Monica north to whenever you get tired. US 395 from San Diego north, in particular north of Bishop. California 49 (Gold Country).

POST 15Original post

I could really use some suggestions for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Even other areas of Texas will do. Please Help!!!!! 2000 Arctic Silver C2

POST 16Original post

Dallas/Ft Worth..... The only advice I could give you..... Head for AR and the Ozarks.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Try the AUSTIN TX and Surrounding areas! beautiful and windy roads all over the place....also take a trip out to Big Bend in central texas ...its like a minature grand canyon!

POST 18Original post

There is an "orphaned" segment of a 4 lane hi-way. It got stopped due to some habitat for an endangered mosquito!! That left a 3 mile length of straight hi-way maintained by the federal goverment that goes from nowhere to nowhere between to entrance ramps. Did 175 mph here!!! There is a curving hilly road between two towns near where I live. Bypass hiways have been built, but the road remains as a scenic route. Unpopulated and no crossings for 20 miles. Great place to heel-toe and listen to the exhaust resounding across the hills. BUT, my all-time favorites: Mid-Ohio and BeaveRun racetracks!!!

POST 19Original post

RE: driving in Texas, check out the motorcycle ride guides. Much more activity and information there. Around DFW there are a couple of routes that head north towards the red river and west/south towards hill country as well as east Texas. Do some searching around - there are a lot of motorcycle clubs that have stuff documented. Also checkout www.ridetexas.com - they have a best ride of 2003, 2002, etc and some other things documented. Also, Arkansas is not that far away - I did the Talimena trail in a (long) day trip from Dallas. That's all I have time for now but PM me if you want and I can try to find some more specifics that I have stashed somewhere.

POST 20Original post

I would have to say the same, the roads in Western Carolina are a hoot to drive. This is off Hwy 221 between Grandfather Mtn and Blowing Rock. The road is a blast, just watch out for slow movers. Blue Ridge Pkwy between Linville and Boone.

POST 21Original post

New York State has awesome roads Swerving around all the potholes and salt trucks is kinda like driving the PCH or Blue Ridge Parkway. Thankfully I beat my other car up when in crappy NYS. Porsche will NEVER see the North East again, currently enroute back to NC forever.

POST 22Original post

Thanks to bob_dallas for his www.ridetexas.com suggestion!!!! Wife and I hit 5 of the top 10 on Saturday. FM337 from Medina to Camp Wood, State Highway 16, FM1431 from Round Rock to Lake Buchanan, FM335 from Camp Wood to SH41, and FM336 from Leakey to SH41. 16 hours in total, 13 spent in the car!!!! Taking 10MPH turns in the mountains at 40MPH was AWESOME. I've only had the car a month, so now I can say is has been christened!! Only dissapointment was that I was the only Porsche, of any kind, that I saw all day. I hope the Texas Porsche owners didn't just buy their cars for the valet ego effect 2000 Artic Silver C2
