Suggestion

However, if I was in the market for a set of wheels and tires for a 996, I probably would jump on your set simply because they are lighter and you have great tires installed on them.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know how much the 18" Technology rims weigh? And the weight of those rims with P-Zero tires (long shot, I know). TIA! Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 2Original post

Here you go: Hollow spoke "Turbo" wheels: 7.5" x 18" - ET50 - 18.95 lbs 10" x 18" - ET65 - 23.36 lbs

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Viken, are the "Technology" wheels as delivered as a factory option on a 99 996 the hollow-spokers? Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 4Original post

Yes, Porsche installed hollow spoke "Technology" or now called "Turbo I" wheels on the 996 up until or around July 1999 production. After that point, they switched to solid spoke "Turbo Look I" wheels. If I remember correctly, the option code for the "Turbo I" wheels was M408. Do you know if these are the wheels you have? You can also tell by the metal valve stem on the hollows vs rubber on the solids.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car is an early-99 build (amber taillights). I'll have to look at the valve stems, but the window sticker specifies "Technology" rims, so I suspect they are the hollow-spoke ones. They are for sale, as I picked up a new set of the 5-spoke lightweight Carrera rims with P-Zero Rossos (which aren't really any lighter, apparently), but I had an interested buyer who was curious about the weight. What I am curious about is what they are worth, and if the hollow-spoke rims are more in demand. They have new P-Zero Asymmetricos on there and they are in excellent condition (no curb rash, etc.). As always, thanks for your expertise. Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 6Original post

I am not too sure about the demand on these. As you know, most people seem to prefer the 18" Carrera wheel. However, if I was in the market for a set of wheels and tires for a 996, I probably would jump on your set simply because they are lighter and you have great tires installed on them. As such, and for the right buyer, they should be worth a fair amount of money.
