You can replace the steering wheel with a thicker GT3 steering wheel from Gert and save the airbag from the old.

Hi there,
just sold my 1980SC and am now looking for a 996C2 to replace it.
A friend has one for sale, but I'd like some advice...
he says the car has done 120K miles. The steering wheel (Tan leather) and the gear **** are badly worn. Is this a common problem or might this indicate that the car has done more miles than is shown? Also, the laquer on the wheels has started to delaminate. he says this is a common problem with GT3 alloys, is that correct?
here is the spec of the car:
Brand new 3.4 liter engine from Porsche. Fitted in August of last year the new engine has done 1,350 miles with all Porsche documentation and under Porsche warranty

going on that spec and the 120K mileage, anyone have any opinions on what the car might be worth? I was thinking around �11K
any hints, tips or advice greatly appreciated

I think that is a good price. The chassis has miles but it has a new 3.4L X51 powerplant with 1.4K miles on the clock.
What are the option codes?
Does it creak and rattle?
Was it tracked?
How old/mileage is the suspension?

I'm not sure of the option codes, but I've sent the guy an email to ask.
It has been on track, but I'm not sure how many times. I'll find this out too. The suspension was fitted within the last two years so hasn't done very many miles. This was set up at Silverstone by John oakley, of John Oakley design.
I've not driven it yet so dont know if it has any rattles knocks or bangs. I'll be taking it for a test drive within the next couple of weeks
Savanna beige interior does not wear well, so the condition of the steering wheel and shifter is probably not out of the ordinary for a car with those miles. Part of the issue is that since Savanna is a light color, it requires more cleaning to keep it from looking dirty. Over time, the "extra" cleaning diminishes the appearance.
It sounds like a good car (especially with a new motor) and probably performs magnificently. It really depends on how particular you are, I'm sure that it's pretty worn-in all around based on your description. I may be wrong, but isn't �11K about $17.5K US? Seems low to me, unless it's really thrashed.
At 11K that seems like a pretty good deal, especially with a new X51 engine. I would still recommend a PPI to check out the other aspect of the car.
If you get the car and want a new steering wheel I have a four spoke wheel and airbag in Savanah Beige that came out of my car when i went to a three spoke wheel. The airbag is original, but in great shape. The steering wheel is a replacment one I bought as mine was worn, and was only in the car for about 6 months. The steering wheel would be easy to ship, but the airbag may be more of a challenge as it is considered hazardous.
My Savanah beige steering wheel showed signs of dirt and wear at 35k miles, so as previously stated, it's a color that doesn't hold up that well. The 911 you pictured looks nice and has loads of options and the price stated seems very good. Get your PPI performed and maybe check for over-revs as well. I also have the 4spoke wheel and airbag if you do the deal. GL
