That gives me a 94-95 octane, and makes the car run much smoother than with just the 91 we have in California.

So I went to the Sunoco, filled 'er up..ouchy..3.99 a gallon and now the car is really running strong.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It appears I had some bad gas based on my Tech's judgement recently.
Car kinda' stumbled, made some "noises" then shut down. Of course I thought the worse - maybe lost something in the lower engine, like a crank or something.
At any rate, tow'd it in and waited. After several days of being told "we'll know something tomorrw, and we'll call you", I drove to the dealership to get some face time.
They stated bad fuel and they could'nt find any "noises". This was good news!!
They also stated I should fill up with 100 Unleaded Sunoco. Hmmm...I thought...sign me up.
So I went to the Sunoco, filled 'er up..ouchy..3.99 a gallon and now the car is really running strong. I didn't think I'd be able to tell a difference 'cause the car has intellegence to manage different octane's, like 91 and up.
But it really does feel a little more "spirited".
Probably just me, 'cause I missed her when she was in the shop for 7 days...

A mix of 91-92 and 100 is what I run in my 02 C2. I put in 4 gals of 100 and the rest of 91 premimum. That gives me a 94-95 octane, and makes the car run much smoother than with just the 91 we have in California.
There have been numerous posts on this. The car is optimized at 93 octane. Anything less down to 91 and it detunes itself to accomodate. Anything less than 91 can probably ruin the engine. Anything more than 93 won't do anything that wasn't already there at 93.
OTOH, at $3.99/gallon, one is obligated to feel an improvement with 100 octane
.
Charlie C - The Sunoco is in Jacksonville Florida.
They have "large" above ground tank labeled..GT Unleaded..100 Octane.
I know some guys who run it in their competition dirt bikes.
I'm back to 93 and it runs just as well....
I think anything over 93 is a waste. The 100 didn't make a difference. I just thought it did due to my car being gone for a week and I had to drive my little 14 year old automatic corlla(daily driver to work).
