Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 6Original post

I had Gemballa on my 1999 C2 and hated it. I've heard many aftermarket exhausts inlcuding RUF's version. the RUF sound is well.....as expected, really cool.....makes noises you'd expect a 911 to make. I was going to put RUF on my 2001 but circumstances worked out (got a deal that couldn't be refused from PCNA when RMS failed in first 30 days) for PSE. No regrets because the PSE (open full time) sounds exactly the RUF mufflers do (once broken in that is)...I found it to get a little louder over time. Needless to say, I highly recommend either RUF or PSE. PSE you can sample here http://www.porschedriving.com/the_cars.asp# I have a couple of friends who had Fabspeed and while they like it, it's certainly a distinct sound (low rumble a-la-a american V8 almost) versus the more traditional mechanical wail inherent to the old air cooled 911's. I was at Weissach in Vancouver last summer and they had a RUF modified 996 that just sounded amazing.

POST 8Original post

Fabspeed are half the price of the PSE IMHO they have a unique sound that is sweet sweet music. Your right, they have a low V8 sounding rumble in low revs but sound like a Ferrari at higher revs when you slam your foot down. I have listened to the PSE and Cargraphic and I like the Fabspeed better.

POST 9Original post

there seem to be as many opinions as there are exhausts! every time this topic comes up there's always people that say that one sounds better than the other. so all i have to add to this discussion is that get the one that you like the best!

POST 10Original post

don't worry... any exhaust is better than the washing machine sound of the stock exhaust. i went for the PSE for my 03 cab... no regrets at all... it sounds like a Messerschmitt Bf 109 on a strafing run when your revs are in the 5000-6000 region.. buy one and have fun with it! chucksta

POST 11Original post

other than RUF, i heard them all (in person not sound files) some sounds like ferrari's some like V8's but PSE sounds like aircooled 911's. if you want your car to sound like older porsche get the PSE. oh PSE does not resonant like fabspeed or gemballa. personal opinion of course.
