This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Auto Spies's most recent issue states that the 997 will be arriving in 2004, and might be released at the Detroit Auto show. I was at the dealer yersterday, and the dealer told me that there will be 1 more year of the 996. My neighbor, who went to a different dealer in the area, was told the same thing. Now I know that the dealer wants every reason to push the 996's out the door, but, I was not buying and it was pretty obvious. Anyone hear anything similar to this??

POST 2Original post

Could this be the reason that 996 prices are being driven down?

POST 3Original post

(yawn) As a long time AutoSpies fan, I'm growing tired of the outdated material they call 'exclusive' and the overabundance of so many ads on the site now. It's frustrating when you can find out more weeks in advance than you can on AutoSpies. Like the concept, but they are far from 'first rumor' exclusivity. Give us the DIRT, man.

POST 4Original post

go to the 993 forum and view my post "New Boxster/997 update straight from the Harm's mouth" (posted yesterday). It's an article in this month's UK based 991 & Porsche World magazine that quotes Porsche Design Boss Harm Lagaay who 100% confirmed release of both the new Boxster and 997 in 2004 with some very exciting comments to boot! With only two major German motor shows next year it will only be a question of which car for which show since it's unlikely they will realease both at the same one.

POST 6Original post

One step ahead.....I retyped the article (with quotes) word for word so you can read it in it's entirety at this thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=99819

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Westcoast: Why would anybody from Porsche actually affirm the 997 release date? Would that not even further hurt the already weak 996 sales? Doesn't make sense to me.

POST 8Original post

Mr. Lagaay only confirmed what the enthusiasts already know. That both the Boxster and the 996 are long due to be replaced when considering the life cycles of previous models. Six and Seven years respectively is a long time and this pattern (fewer sales in the final year.....special models in limited production, etc...) occured in the same sense when the 911 transitioned to the 964, and again with the 964 to the 993. However, the transition from the 993 to 996 was a different story with fierce demand remaining for the 993 that continues to linger even today. The purists who resisted the move to the water cooled 996 may or may not be excited about the water cooled 997 but no one can deny that some of the 911 heritage/spirit pinnacled by the 993, was somehow lost on the 996. Rumors have it that Porsche recognized this and hopes to recapture that magic with the 997. So it only stands to reason that next year (as Harm pointed out) is a different story for Porsche but no firm commitment to date on what new model will bow first.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
