Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 99 C2 has a slightly rough idle, revs seem steady enough but the car shakes a little bit, slightly more than my 95 993 did. Is this typical for a 99 996? It also hunts a little bit when the weather is cold (30s). TIA, Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 2Original post

my car has the same problem once in a while. I'm going to try to change my airfilter to see if that fixes the problem. i have a 99c2 fyi.

POST 3Original post

My 1999 C4 has 15,000 miles on it also idles rough, and has since new

POST 4Original post

Add me to the list as well. Strangely, it seems to get better when the a/c is on

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Probably because it idles a little higher when the AC's on. Could just be a characteristic of the car, I suppose ... every 993 I've been in had the shakes at idle, as did all the older 911s. Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 6Original post

Gents; Why don't you remove the Idle Stabilizer and give that a good cleanout with carb cleaner,....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Where's it at on the 996, Steve? Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 8Original post

Its attached to the left side of the throttle body and I'd remove it and clean it, and the passages out very thoroughly.
