Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am about 6 to 12 months away from the purchase of a 996 or Boxster S yet I scour the internet several times per week looking for deals. I have seen several 996s for as much as $10k below the kbb prices. Are there specific problems with these cars (most of which are '99 models) that I should be aware of? Of course I will get the PPI but I'm curious why so many 996s are being offered at such low prices (not that I'm complaining). Thanks, Mickey

POST 3Original post

The advertised prices seem to range from $38 to $50 for a 996 coupe with a median around $45K. Not too bad! (for the buyer) Matt

POST 5Original post

the kbb and nada prices are an average of all sales since the model was introduced. they're high because 996 porsches (and boxsters) were selling for high prices during the economic boom of the late 90s. now that the US and many other countries are in recessions, or at least close to them, the demand for high end luxury cars is down and so are the prices. it's not only used cars, it's new ones too. my friend just got a brand new 2003 996 with an $81K sticker for only $69K. yes, it's a year old model, but with 0 miles, that's a ridiculous discount. dealers are discounting even current model year cars a lot!
