In our first (BMW) AutoX a guy with more money than sense showed up with a Z06 and got stupid with it after the event, jumped the curb, and sent it down an embankment covered in the big stones they use for erosion management.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
61 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Here'd my theory. Porsche owner's are insecure middle aged balding men with small *****'s (peni?). Except for me. I am young, full head of hair, and hung like bull.
This is the only forum that I belong to where everyone hates everyone else and what they drive. There is a lot of mine is better than yours. The AC vs WC discussions, everyone vs the 996, 911 vs boxster, the comments I see here from one 996 owner to another, all baffle me.
So all I can conclude is that Porsche owners have issues. Me included.
Now I am just going to sit back and wait for the comment from someone to just tell me to sell my car and move on because reading what I write bothers them.
Let's all troll the AC forums and rag on their lack of water cooling. KK, any tips on trolling? "OMG, your car is so under powered it doesn't need water to cool it, LOL!" "Or, you paid what?! Sucker!"
Well, in terms of technology, the 996 is leaps ahead of the ACs, so let them be happy in their own bubble. Also, at least we drive our cars. Now that AC prices are going up, no AC owner wants to rack up the miles.
I never said we should praise the 996 as superior, I just think we should all respect all Porsches. They all have flaws just like us. I used to own a 911sc and 944 turbo and now a 996. Neither was perfect
Come now, if it weren't for you Boxster owners who would take care of my hair?
OP, Seriously? All 356 and 911 owners think their model is the pinnacle of Porsche design and anything newer is just kowtowing to the masses and ruining the driving dynamics. It makes no sense to me, but thats how it is.
You want real Porsche hate? Show up to an AutoX in a diesel Cayenne. Bonus points if you can out perform all the precious AC cars
Yes I did and I indeed hear some "what is he doing here with that" and "thats not even a real Porsche" comments behind my back before registration.
Unlike the GTS owner that was afraid to see what it could really do, I flung that beast of a P!g around all day and had a blast. I couldn't compete with the 9X6 cars or anything newer than the 996, but I could keep up with or best anything older other than a few purpose tuned cars.
Some people actually were impressed and started talking to me, but I heard a few making the typical excuses
Most of the people at the event were really cool though regardless of the car they drove.
Tire pressures were off, sun was at a bad angle, too cold, etc...
The usual stuff you hear from overblown egos that can't accept that the world is not exactly as they believe/want it to be.
I hate to disagree but I frequent 5 forums. The wheel horse guys, the pontiac guys, and the ford excursion guys never have anything bad to say. Even when I got my e60 5 series (the ones with the funny, I mean cool headlights, the bashing lasted only a little while. By the time the F10 5 series came the e60 bashing was long gone.
...unless you're in a car with both.
I believe I could probably wipe the floor with 90% of the air-cooled Porsche snobs in existence with my $10K Corvette...and I know at least two guys with bone-stock early 986 Boxsters who can demolish me consistently. You can put the best driver in the crappiest car imaginable, and he's still got a good chance of beating any mediocre driver in a great car. Note that I am still endeavoring to master mediocre driving...
Everyone wants their club to be exclusive. Especially the a**holes.
Funny you mention that. In our first (BMW) AutoX a guy with more money than sense showed up with a Z06 and got stupid with it after the event, jumped the curb, and sent it down an embankment covered in the big stones they use for erosion management. It was not in good shape when then finally pulled it out.
Apparently the kid had already wrecked a couple of his mom's Porsches so she thought the Vette would be appropriate
Fast cars and stupidity are a wicked combo. I remember watching some tool with a brand-new Turbo spinning his car - over and over and over and over - because he couldn't wrap his head around turbo lag. He'd try to blast out of every corner, the turbo would spool, and the rear end came around, and I swear to God it was a surprise for this guy every single time.
I made sure not to work corners during his sessions.
My pool guy is one of the only guys who "gets it" - a garage with a Corvette
and
a 911 can be a fun garage indeed. I prefer the 'Vette in the rain - aluminum and fiberglas don't rust, and with ASR off (primitive PSM), it's like being on a skid pan.
Well when you become such an easy target, it's best to keep your mouth shut.
I belong to a Jag XKE list......there's always ragging between the S1/SII/SIII and 2+2 owners...........all in good fun of course.....eeeerrr, yeah, right.
Comparing AC cars and WC cars is like comparing apples and oranges. Quantitatively the WC cars win every time. Qualitatively, not so much. I've had a 996 (40th anniversary) and a 997... You'll never hear me bash them. They are great cars. I just decided that the AC cars were more appealing to me.
Now, get back to checking your IMS, RMS, AOS, etc.and I'll get back to checking my head studs, valve guides, etc.
I own a few of all of them.. I appreciate each differently. The water cooled cars are what I drive when the weather is either wet, crazy hot, or crazy cold.. Otherwise, I'll be driving something without coolant in it's cooling system.
And, Guys EVERY Car Forum (except maybe the Prius Forum) has that Red-Headed Step-Child that's Picked On! I Don't care if it's the Hummers, Mercedes, Vipers or EVEN Vettes, they ALL make a Less Expensive (Cheaper) Version! Remember, Poor People like Nice Cars Also! jmo! Now Go Enjoy WHATEVER YOU HAVE & Don't WORRY about ANYBODY Else!
Porsche owners of all ilk have much in common with Vette and Harley owners. They are distinct sub-species with intense loyalties to particular models and like minded owners.
Their loyalties inevitably lead to deep biases and an irresistible propensity to bash all "non-members".
I don't have problem with that.

If you dont have a 63-73 AC car you dont have a real Porsche either, according to the 911 AC crowd, I guess you have to spend an ungodly amount of money to have that real Porsche.
I am a dedicated Porsche fan, I do like almost everyone of them but if Cayenne is more or less bearable (only talking about exterior design) then this - panamera, simply looks ****
and personally if I don't like the looks of the car it can be made of pure gold, I don't want it, I can come over some problems it has technically or some specialities, but the car has to apeal to me and EVERYTHING wins over the panamera, the 6er gran coupe, the maserati quatroporte, cls and all other things out there
panamera sucks (from the aesthetitcal point of view), sorry my own subjective opinion. don't want to convince anyone to agree with me.
and concerning all the sh1ttalk about air cooled cars and watercooled cars it reminds me the same thing about stupid people wanting to be clever and saying that 944 is the same as a 924 which (in their opinion) is essentially a volkswagen and therefore it is not a real porsche.
so chill out, a porsche is a porsche, even the ugly duckling panamera (no matter how I hate the looks of it) it is still a porsche. all these stupid hate generating threads about real and "unreal" porsches should be deleted after the first post.
Owned them all prefer the cars with race proven engines. Water is Great in a GT3.
Question for the 996 crowed. How many of you have ever owned an air cooled car? From an enthusiast stand point hard to knock an Air Cooled experience on a twisty country road regardless of what is in your garage. I personally only know of one person that sold there 993 to upgrade to a 996. He loves it. Changed jobs added commuter miles. Sold his 993 and still had $30k in his pocket. He figures when it blows he can afford to replace the engine twice.
Both great cars geared toward totally different audiences.
Agree with the last point. As I posted earlier...apples to oranges comparison between AC and WC
As to the first point, I see a shift in owner profiles/demographics that all cars go through. This forum is VERY different from what I remember in 2007 when I owned my 40th Anniversary (#590). There were the same IMS posts back then; however, now there is almost a "bitter" tone. it's hard to describe.....
