Thought I read somewhere that this thing uses sealed bearings.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Started the car, moved it out of the garage and switched off. Worked in the garage for maybe about an hour then started the car and bought it back in.......then.......a VERY high pitched kind of buzzing sound coming out of the engine bay. Idle was smooth and no other noises. After about 1 minute, noise went away?? Didn't get a chance to see if the noise varied with revs.
Any ideas folks?
IMS - bearing gonna BLOW!!!! DON'T DRIVE IT!!! Flatbed it to the nearest dealer. (Sorry, just wanted to beat the doom Sayers)
Normal, it's probably the Secondary Air Injection pump. (SAI)
SAI comes on for ~1 minute on cold start to help light the Cats. It can also come on at other times to help keep the cats at temp. They sound like angry mini vacuums.
There is an article on Renntech about re-lubricating the SAI pump. KrazyK wrote that article.
All pumps should be the same. It is a generic Bosch pump, verify the part number for compatibility.
Sorry but I can't find anything re what/who you're suggesting. I've not used "renntech" but have tried to do a search for renntech + SAI pump and only come up with infromation about whare the pump is and how to remove it.......nothing about how to R&R the thing??
