Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This afternoon I took this car for a drive:
2001 C4 Coupe
It was quite fun
It's pretty high mileage @ 162k, though it still felt very strong. It had the OEM sport exhaust option added (with the switch), and it sounded
very
good. Full leather and alcantara headliner. Sport seats. Lots of service records.
Cons:
- driver's seat electronics are dead, so it's only got fore/aft manual adjustment, Unfortunately it's not locked in the right angle/tilt position for me
- it's got the full wood treatment, and the bits by the windshield are a combo of dead and gone. Big chunk also missing from the center console. Rest of it is fine.
- as expected from the mileage, oh so many chips on the hood
Despite those cons, I'm still fairly tempted. I'm looking to just put on a few k miles per year, mostly weekend drives and the occasional AX and some light DE use. For this purpose, I'm not worried so much about the cosmetics. Fixing the seat would definitely be a priority.
There are some other local options, but really they're a bit limited because I don't want a silver car. Any opinions on the price vs condition of this one?
Thanks!
If you can get it for $11,000-$12,000 then it is a good deal, at $15k it is too much IMO.
If this was a honda, 165k would be a warm up; no so much for 996. For 996 this car is probably top 5%er when it comes to odometer miles. Be prepared to replace suspension bushings, weather stripping, and all other miscellaneous things that come due at that mileage.
Also, be aware that if you will try to sell the car, you will be having a very difficult time getting rid of it. Mileage that high will scare away 99.9% of buyers. My former 2002 C2 with >125k miles it has been sitting at the dealer lot for four months now at $16k.
It looks to be highly optioned, so may be worth a deeper dive. If you do plan on reselling it the next couple of years I would pass on it, there are lots on the market.
dgjks6, can you please post a link?
My drivers side has been broken since I got it. I have sport seats as well, fortunately my back angle is fine and I can still adjust the base (tilt) and moving the seat butt back and forth.
