I do the brakes myself (they are INCREDIBLY easy) and since the price went up on oil changes from $100-200 I will probably do those myself too.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think I am going to need a rear main seal replaced and am probably going to take it to Branywine Porsche. My local dealer has just not given me satisfactory service. Brandywine is a 120 mile drive for me but if I can get quality service I will go there. Anyone have any positive or negative issues with Brandywine's service department? Thanks in advance.
Which dealer's service deparment are you unsatisfied with...just want to be sure I don't go there...
I got my car at Don Rosen and they have been great on the sales side...don't know the service department yet...thankfully!
I have always had horrible expiriences with Don Rosen's service department and brandywine used to be great but they seem to have changed. For example oil change for boxster at don rosen was $180 and $100 at Brandywine but recently brandywine jacked it up to $200! Another example: I just had my car in for inspectino and they charged $28 for replacement wiper blades and $27 to LABOR TO INSTALL WIPER BLADES! With Brandywine the problem is the prices with Don Rosen it's just plain terrible all around.
I don't know if the fact that brandywine and don rosen are now owned by the same company has anything to do with it or not.
brh986,
What's a guy to do for good service?? Where do you go for service now? I am in the Scranton area but don't mind driving 100 or so miles for good service. Only one shop up here and they are pathetic for service. I don't mind paying the higher price if it is done right and there does not seem to be alot of dealers that do it right!
Yes, the price is high on Porsche service. I think it is true for all Porsche dealerships.
My experience with Don Rosen has been exceptional especially on warranty services:
They have promptly service my warranty issues:
RMS -
Need to make appointment for this but they fit me in a day or two and the work was done on the same day I dropped off my car.
Left Front Wheel Bearing -
Did not made an appointment. I dropped by in the morning and they have a tech to test drove with me and determined that the left front wheel bearing was defective. They gave me a boxster as loaner and got the wheel bearing replaced the same day.
Defective O2 sensor-
Called in when the check engine light was on. They asked me to drop off the car the next morning.
They checked and replaced the O2 sensor as I was waiting.
I may not agree with their pricing (so do other Porsche dealer's pricing) but I'm more than happy on how they handle my warranty services.
Kam
Zblue,
How many miles on yours when you needed the RMS? I just turned 28K.
I am going to give them a call for a price, mine is out of warranty, and if I drive down from Scranton do you think they would provide me with a loaner. Probably not since I did not buy the car there!
My RMS leaked at about 17,000 miles. The service was covered under wrannty.
Don Rosen only supply loaner car to customers who bought their cars there.
I would call Bill Mathis, the service manager, and see if they will make an exception to give out a loaner car for you since you will be going to them from far away.
Well luckily no service has been needed really other than oil or brakes. I do the brakes myself (they are INCREDIBLY easy) and since the price went up on oil changes from $100-200 I will probably do those myself too. I have alot of warranty left on the car so I'm not too worried about it right now. If anything is ever needed out of warranty I will go to an independent shop. Your local PCA region can certainly reccomend a good local independent guy. I'm surprised to hear someone that had a good expirience with Rosen's service department. I have only heard bad stories and expirienced the same myself. I found their service manager to be incompetent and rude.
Please don't take this personally, but with all due respect, the only thing worse than charging $200 for an oil change and $27 to install wiper blades, is actually PAYING that much to have something done that you could easily do yourself. If your time is that valuable then I suppose it can be justified, but regardless, on principle, I refuse to be ripped off if I can help it. As long as people are willing to be overcharged for services, there will be no shortage of providers standing in line to do the gouging.
Well as I said I won't take it there anymore for oil. For $100 and teh relatively long intervals I'd take it. It would cost me more than half that for the filter and the oil and it is a messy job. More importantly I like the idea that they will taking a look under there every 5k-7k miles anyway. When I got the bill at $200 I wasn't aware they were going to double the price and I haven't taken it back since.
As for the wiper blades this was a total surprise as well, I had the car in for a state inspectin and they would not pass it without new blades. I new they would rip me off but had no idea it would be $50. I assumed maybe $20 or $30 worst case scenerio instead of $10 if I did it myself. It wouldn't have been a viable option to drop what i was doing and run down there and chance hte wiper blades myself so they could pass the car.
