Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well everyone, im here from the Flat-6.net forum.... Most likely will make a perminate swap, and come to this forum instead. I am inquiring a 996 Turbo cabriolet in Europe, and I'd like to know just how much slower it is than a Turbo coupe, and how much faster is it than a Simple Carrera cab- would THAT very difference be the same as the coupes differences, just we've got open tops now?. This forum seems better for real drivers, and actual Porsche buyers- Flat-6 seemed to have kids attending.

POST 2Original post

Hi TGF, remember me? You would get more replies if you post this in the turbo forum . The TT cab difference in acceleration is minimal, tenths of a second. However over a 100 kgs are added, this will affect handling a little. You'll just have to test drive. Afer all you are in a great position to make a comparison, as you just sold your 996 TT. (BTW don't leave flat 6, you're one of the coolest guys there! And the problems are being sorted).

POST 3Original post

I've been toying with the idea of European delivery of a TT Cab. Since the new 997 will be out in 05, does this mean the 996 TT Cab will be manufactured for only 1 year?

POST 4Original post

BnB: Are you sure the 997 will be out in 05? I heard that Porsche will be releasing it at the (I can't remember which one) autoshow in September of 05 as an 06 model. Have you heard differently?

POST 5Original post

Welcome Godfather. What is going on at Flat-6 o/t getting a new moderator or 2?? Would there be any logic in comparing the difference in question with a C2 NA Coupe and Cab? For instance, the factory lists the 0-100km to be 5.2 in the Cab and 5.0 in the coupe...I would assume the same relative relationship would hold true in the Turbo Coupe and Cab. Strangely enough the factory lists the top speed of both NA C2 Coupe and Cab as 285km/hr. One would think the configuration of the Cab would result in slightly lower top speed, unless it's electronically regulated???

POST 6Original post

In the case of the Carrera, the Cd and frontal areas are identical (along w/ engine & gearing), thus the similarity in top speeds. The folding top had major issues at high speeds, but most of those were cured in the revision (glass window/new bows). Yes, the production window for the Turbo Cab will be quite short (just over 1 year). To maintain interest, automakers increase the range of styles for a given model towards the end of it's life. Thus, we'll see the maximum number of variations in the final year of the 996, and then a change to a more limitied number of variations in the first years of the 997, such as a Coupe, Cabriolet, and AWD variations, to then be followed by Turbos, Targas, GTs, etc... As far as the published numbers, are they not available at Porsche's website? (in German, I believe) J
