Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

mine was a little miffed (about the tranny) at first, but seems to have adjusted pretty ok and loves the car (uses A3) with the exception of shifts between 1st and 2nd.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have sold the 911 and purchased a new M3 for various reasons including more room for my 2 growing boys, and the SMG system which is the best of both worlds (I hope) so that my wife and I can both enjoy a sporting car. (She would never drive the manual, and I know that is some people's dream but it causes friction when it is a garage queen.)
I have a seldom used, very new looking and feeling Porsche made car cover (fitted for the 996) and 2 brand new never worn Porsche hats purchased about 3 months ago, so they are the latest design. I would sell all including shipping for $75 to someone here on the board if there is and interest.

just got an SMG for a stick hating wife as well. she loved my 97 M3 way back when even though it was stick. what does yours think of it? mine was a little miffed (about the tranny) at first, but seems to have adjusted pretty ok and loves the car (uses A3) with the exception of shifts between 1st and 2nd. of course, i use S5 when i drive it :-) it's a fairly lousy automatic, but it's a fabulous stick. one of the nicest things about it is that both hands stay on the wheel at all times. imo, it's a sweet car, but no substitute for my 996.
Well, for once my wife actually helped me choose the color and so forth so she is pretty much all smiles. I would never say it is a substitute for the 996, but it is a great car in a different way.

lol, yeah i finally learned this time that instead of her telling me what kind of car she wants and then applying my judgement to it re: color choices that the best way to insure 100% happiness is to get whatever she wants in whatever color, options wise :-) her favorite color was the 03 silver gray one so that's what i got.
Funny, I'm doing the opposite. Have a '02 M3SMG I'm selling to get a GT3. Love the M3 (had many BMW's too) but miss having a 911. I still have my original '71 914 (which embarassed many a 911 in autocrosses) and figure I'll keep the GT3 till my kids inherit it... anyone want a real nice titanium silver M3 fully loaded let me [email removed]
I think the performance levels of the M3 and the 911 are pretty similar although different flavors. So I anticipate I will be happy with the driving. The ride quality is very much better and this bothered me on the 911 as I was not comfortable on Dallas freeways. I had the hollow spoke 18'S with 295/30/18 rears by Conti. It was too harsh. The M3 has 19's but this still leaves a smooth vibration free ride. The M3 is loaded with things so nothing there.
What I do miss already, (1 week), is the pure form of the 911 and perfect paint and build quality. But the M3 is a lot cheaper so I guess you get what you pay for.
I have only driven 200 miles so no in depth observations are possible and the above are just comments on a brief time in the car.
I can not afford a new GT3, so that option was never possible. I would have the 911 and the M3 both if I could. Since I can't, I thought the M3 was the best of both worlds in that it compromises a lot of things but in the end, I can beat 90+% of the cars out there, my wife likes it, my kids fit in it, and it looks pretty good to me.

The M3 is definitely the performance bargain of german cars. I love the M3 and for the $$ is an incredible car, but the 911 is ... a 911. Need I say more?
