Average Black Book wholesale is $55600 with rough valued at $51500 so depending on all the previously mentioned variables including amount of damage and quality of repair I would say probably your thinking is on target.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking at an 02 C2 coupe with 8500 miles. It has PSM and 18inch wheels (no Xenon or Bose). It has 1 "Moderate" accident, according to CarFax What is the value of the car? How much does the accident affect its value? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Great post...i have looked at a similar car myself and poises many questions..need a qualified mechanic porsche to thoroughly review....good luck.....i personally would not do can be hidden dangers and lots more cars out there anyway..

POST 3Original post

it depends on alot-who repared it, what occured during the moderate accident. i agree with boxsterdoc-unless the deal was a screeming deal, i would stay away, as there are no shortage of good cars at good prices.

POST 4Original post

If it showed up on a car fax, this is a very bad thing. If the car steers, steer clear!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These are all valid points, but what would market value be? I mean, $60K would be too much to pay, but I venture to say that $40K would be very cheap - so what is reasonable? I am thinking $52K - how does this sound?

POST 6Original post

Average Black Book wholesale is $55600 with rough valued at $51500 so depending on all the previously mentioned variables including amount of damage and quality of repair I would say probably your thinking is on target.

POST 7Original post

Determining the true value is tough, but these are the points I would consider: 1) Do you plan to keep it for a while as YOUR car. If yes, will you be happy with a car you know was damaged (and could have future repair bills). Will it kill you that in 1 year, you could pay the same for a perfect '02 as you did for the damaged '02 today? If you are planning to sell it soon, I'd steer clear as anyone buying your Porsche will likely go through this same process before taking it off your hands. 2) In my little experience with CarFax, it seems you have to have a pretty major accident for anything to show up. 3) If you still like the car enough to buy it, you MUST take it for the PPI at the local dealer you will be using going forward. Have them do the full check to let you know everything that is wrong. If they're good, they should even be able to speculate on the type of accident that happened. Bent frames and heavy electrical damage should turn you off - no matter how good the deal. The good thing is that an '02 should still have warranty left (make sure your dealer won't void parts of the warranty b/c of the accident) and that should take care of some problems. Good luck.

POST 8Original post

Rough value in a black book assumes a clear title. Does the car have a clear title? If so, you may be spot on. If not, you would be over paying.

POST 9Original post

Winovin: There are too many C2s around for you to be paying near full whack for a crashed-one. For 5-6 grand, wouldn't you want your car to not have that history? Don't do it dude!
