Problem is the BMW was a lease and I had to take a hit on it (7k+) to get the P-car (also a lease) Well I did it!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my right brain tells my don't even think about it & my left brain tells me **** it, just do it. want to know what u guys think... saw a GT-3 at the dealer today for MSRP. the color and everything are just perfect the way i wanted it. however, according to the guy, my 02 C4S is only worth at low 60s (i know i can get better deal sell it myself, just to get a idea here.) i'm not a big fan of narrow body Pcar, but the GT-3 is different story. i love my C4S, but i can't stop thinking that beauty i saw today. u guys probably already know what i want to ask. is it worth to trade my car for the GT-3? (figure that i need to pay extra $50,000. sounds already stupid here )

POST 2Original post

Give me your personal financial statement and I'll give you an answer! Seriously, if you buy the GT3 "narrowbody" you will lose 2" and I don't know how important that is to you. And pls watch the language

POST 3Original post

How the world just goes round and round . I was in your shoes about a month ago. Exactly your spot. I had a slot for the GT3, trading in my C4S. I was floored by the trade-in I was given, pretty much where yours is. My gut said go for it, my head said are you nuts. I went with my head. The decision was made easier by the disgust I felt at the low resales, and the feeling that I would rather keep my C4S rather than throw it away for pennies on the dollar. It also helped that after sitting down calmly, I figured I can have the GT3 in about a year, and still keep the C4S . In short, does it make sense to get the 2004 GT3 and trade a 2002 C4S? No. OTOH, does it make sense to pay $80-$110K for a car? No. I have been told I can get an excellent track car, a tow vehicle and an enclosed trailer for less. It's a personal as well as a financial choice, and the choices that don't make sense are often the most fun. The choice is yours to make.

POST 4Original post

Wow. Low 60's for an 02? I got screwed then. I just paid in the mid 70's for an 03. Typical timing.

POST 5Original post

Well said, Palting. I wonder how a P-car salesman can keep a straight face trying to sell you on the investment of a new P-car while offering "pennies on the dollar" for the one he sold you a year ago! IMHO, I believe value of late model cars will stabilize, and more accurately reflect value in late fall, when the numbers of surplus '03s being dumped by dealers should diminish, coupled with the reduced factory production of '04 966 series.

POST 6Original post

My $0.02 I had a perfectly good 530i bmw utntil 4 months ago when i traded it in for my c2 cab. I figured hell...I've wanted a porsche since I was like 4, I make good cash, probaly should have gotten it insted of the BM from the giddy up and...you only likve once! Problem is the BMW was a lease and I had to take a hit on it (7k+) to get the P-car (also a lease) Well I did it! I trully love my car but it is damn expensive...not a financial burden by any means but it ain't cheap! Bottom line: I have to say I love my car and would not undo what I did. But I hate the way i did it! ( I could have waited till the lease was up...or sold the BM out wright first...or something) Here is a possible solution. Go to your dealer and get on the list for the next available alotment of gt3's and get crazy serious about selling your car in that time and maybe you can get the nubers somewhere closer to the middle! Truth is we are talking about Porshce. I bet in 2 years they have something we will all want even more than a gt3! Jason

POST 7Original post

My $0.02 Three months ago I was debating between gt3 or c4s, at that time there weren't any gt3 available. Instead of having to wait for another summer, I decide to lease my 03 C4S off the lot (No waiting). I love this car, I'm glad I had this summer to enjoy my first porsche (It is been an absolute blast), nothing is going to take this away from me for another 3 years (financial loss is least of the reasons, I just love this car too much). As jbdmd said, in 2-3 years we'll all be drooling over the latest porsche.
