Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It has been 7 months since a contract was completed for building development client who has since fallen on its face. There is an outstanding balance of 38,000. I have been offered an '04 C2 Cab--seal grey, grey top and dark grey interior, only has 9k--take the trade? I may never see the cash is my fear. Has the 996 market leveled off at all? Good or bad decision?
If you do take the car make sure:
- You get title free and clear of liens.
- It's basically a barter exchange, so make sure the taxes are done correctly. Establish clearly it's fair market value for taxes. You're accepting an asset as payment so when the asset is ultimately disposed of there maybe depreciation and capital gains/losses issues. Check with your CPA.
Take it and run - you should be able to sell it for very close to $38k if it's in great shape. If not, you'll get to drive and smile like never before as you loook back on the project every time you're in the car.
Take the car. Sumptin be better than nuttin'. Then hope that this former client doesn't file bankruptcy in the next six months. The bankruptcy trustee may want the car back in the bankruptcy estate.
And, like the others said, make sure there are no liens currently outstanding on the car.
I'm doing the same thing with a guy that sells outside furnaces. He owes me $7,000 so he's going to trade me a furnace and I will sell him an additional $7,000 for all the extra parts like heat exchangers. Not something I really needed but my gas bill at the factory was 14,000 last year so if I can cut that in half I'll be happy. Plus it's an asset that I can always sell.. so i'm keeping his business he's happy to still have someone that will work with him.. My big thing with him is he would never call back, and after I got ahold of him I really asserted to him that communication is key.
Congratulations, My topless Brotha! At least enjoy the next couple of months of "open" driving before selling- who knows you may end up keeping it and that's not such a bad thing

SolidRS, way to go. It's hard to beat a convertible for the summer. If you really want to score points with the wife, tell her that you got it for her.
