Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
Your car's already set up for it, and there's probably a lot less wind noise than w/ aftermarket setups.
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
The convertible rack can be used with the top down, but you can't put the top up with the rack on...and I would assume that the wind noise would be horrible.
Leading evidence: 'lot less wind noise than w/ aftermarket setups' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lot less wind noise than w/ aftermarket setups' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Use with the top down' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone know of a good roof rack? Cost? Is it secure enough to hold 2 road bikes?
I've never had a bike rack that goes on the roof before.
BTW...my car is a 99' coupe.
there are 2 racks that are avail for the cab, one none porsche that goes on the back bumper/deck lid, I believe its avail at performanceproducts.com...
the other is the Porsche rack that you install around/over the conv top. It basically creates rails that follow the line of the roof/window, but once you've attached the rack you cannot put the top up or down.
Yes Nick, they make a great roof rack that fits into 4 pre cut slots in the roof of a C2 only. However, I am not sure how far back model year wise Porsche cut those slots in the roof. The Porsche rack has both a MB & Racing bike mounts and a 10cubic ft container that attaches. I am getting the racing bike mts for my custom full campy record Fondriest Titan9, and the container painted to match my PCAR.
Good Luck
assuming your car is a coupe, get the tequipment cross bars for the roof (PTS). then get bike tray from either yakima or thule. drill a hole in the tray and the PTS and bolt them up. it's much more secure than the bike tray/holder from porsche. am i making any sense?
Nice picture Rob....
yeah, porsche makes 2 separate racks...one for all coupes (C4, C2, C4S, TT), and one for all convertibles (C2, C4)....
The convertible rack can be used with the top down, but you can't put the top up with the rack on...and I would assume that the wind noise would be horrible. The rack can also be used with the top up, same caveat, can't lower the top...
BTW...
$590 for conv $515 coupe
actual attachments extra...
$65 for skis
$165 for bikes
Available anywhere they sell Porshce Tequipment (prices from SunCoast)
