Is it true that PCA requires a 3" lap belt? If so is it for all track events or just Club Racing? I'm considering the 6-points the Gert sells but the lap belt is only 2" wide. TIA

Hi Lance: All of the American-based racing sanctioning bodies require 3" lap belts even though the FIA permits 2" lap belts. You will need 5pt or 6pt harnesses with 3" straps to be legal. I'd recommend the Schroth Competition harnesses.

All the DE events I've been to have allowed the stock 3 point system. I bought Schroth Profi III six point harnesses from Steve. The work well with the GT3 seats and some BK hardware.

Most club drivers ed don't require 5 or 6 points until you get to the intermediate group or above. However, having the harness is much safer and better for your driving performance.

Hi Lance: DE events do not require 5 or 6 pt harness but as others have mentioned, you will feel a LOT more secure and will no longer be subconciously holding yourself upright with the wheel,... I recommend either the 5pt or 6pt Profi III's and they are available in black, red or blue.
