Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed that when I am turning the steering wheel, I hear a creaking sound. Sounds like it is coming from under the dash. Obviously more noticeable with slow speeds (quiet parking lot). Any thoughts?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I will mention this to my indy shop next week. Will I cause damage driving the car in the meantime? Ballpark on repair cost?

POST 4Original post

No damage, just annoying. If not the lower control arm bushings ($$$$), it may be the inner or outer tie rod ends from the steering rack, ($$) which is more likely if you only hear it when turning the steering wheel and not over slow bumps. If it is less noticeable when cold or more noticeable after driven a bit, it is likely one or both of these.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The noise does not seem to happen when the car is cold or is just less noticeable. Also does not happen or is not as noticeable over bumps.

POST 6Original post

There is a similar thread to this over on Renntech. Doug Davis had both sides of his tie rod ends replaced and the noise is gone.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any idea on cost to replace?
