Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What is the best price I can expect to get on a new Carrera 4 from the dealer? I know I want the moonroof, but what other options would you recomend as "Must haves".
Any and all information will be appreciated.
Thanks
A year ago I found my 99 C4 for a bit over 50K nicely loaded at the factory and with a kick azz sound sytem (Pheonix Gold, MBQuart, J&L Audio), carbon fiber dash, and many other extras.
Good luck finding a C4 coupe! Some one correct me if I am wrong but, I think many more C4 Cabriolets were built than C4 Coupes.
I am sorrry I neglected to see you are looking for a "NEW" C4. In which case I would have to ask the same question as Waz- "why not a new C4S?"
Additionally, I would not expect to get anything off at the dealer you will pay "full boat" for everything. All 996's come with a sunroof and if you want it without one it cost extra to have it removed as an option ( I know this from personal expereince in the 2002 Guards Red) one I ordered last year. So you will automatically get a sunroof whether you order it or not (not a "moonroof" which is usually dark tinted glass).
C4 is not available in the US new since MY 2001. Unless it has been sitting in the dealer's lot since 2001. In which case, it should be dirt cheap. Where are you?
Palting, just to clarify for Barret14, you are referring to the MY2001 C4
Coupes
, correct? (i.e. not the C4
Cabs
, which were available thru MY2002).
So if he's looking for a C4 Coupe, then the question "why not a C4S?" applies. The C4S Cab on the horizon will ultimately beg the same question regarding the C4 Cab - (when it arrives).
This is confusing. Are you saying that 996C4's were not made in 2001, 2002, and 2003 until the C4S? -or- are you saying 996C4 Coupes were not available in 2002 and 2003 until the C4S?
Which begs the question- Does anybody know how many C4's Coupes did Porsche build in each year between 99 and 2003 and how many C4 Cabs each year?
The regular C4 coupe was last offered in model year 2001. So that means that there C4 coupes being built from 1999-2001. In 2002, a new body design was introduced and the label C4S was given. The C4 in 2001 was offered in coupe form or cab form. There were more cabs built than coupes. I know that I had the last C4 Coupe Built for America. I got a letter from Porsche telling me this. C4S cars first came to America in the spring of 2002. Hope that clears things up
Neither. I am pointing out that Palting's comments do NOT apply to the C4
Cabriolets
. The C4 Cabriolet's were available through 200
2
. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Both Palting and Psmooth are indicating that 200
1
was indeed the last year C4 Coupes were available.
This is not what you asked for, but it's a start.

OK. C4S is no longer as hot as it was in 2002. 2004 models are around the corner, and the GT3 is now available as well. All will serve to bring the price of the 2003 C4S down. I'd say 2-3K over invoice. BUT, start the bargaining at below invoice and have fun haggling.
Not much has changed from 2002, my car. For options, get the Bi-xenons. Not much more to add for the C4S as a "must have" option. I have the upgraded sound system and CD changer thsat came with the Advanced tecnics pakge, but you can get better after market should you like better audio. Porsche sport exhaust is a close must have. Otherwise, it's pretty loaded relative to the C2. BTW, the sunrooof (not moonroof) is standard. You can't get the sunroof/moonroof though if you get a C4 cab
.
This is indeed a fact, but I no idea how many C4 coupe were built...we are rather rare. I have, to date, seen only one other 996C4 Coupe in the Portland metro area since I have owned mine. I know they are out there but just about every 996C4 I have seen so far is a Cabriolet.
I did the 993 Cabriolet thingy and was pulling my hair out to get out of it. They cabriolets are THE ONLY Porsche not allowed on the track for DE and other events unless they are modified and that simply drove me crazy.
A factory Porsche that is not trackable....hmmmm....go figure!
After looking at the Porsche website the GT3 is looking better and better. Are these hard to find? What can I expect to pay? Will I be forced into 10k in options or does it pretty much include everything?
Thanks
Compared to the C4 and C4S you were otherwise considering, the GT3 has...
No PSM
No AWD
No cruise control
Not sure about A/C?
I certainly understand Pat's "factory Porsche that is not trackabe?" sentiment regarding cabs. In the same vein, a factory 996 without PSM would have no less issue as a daily driver. The difference in driver aids between a GT3 and a C4 are as big as they get.
I would love to have a GT3 also! And I would hate to drive it to work everyday!
Dunno about the hard top being OK. After my 993 Cabriolet experience. I ditched it and never looked back. I certainly did not want to cut the car up to put a roll bar into it when I had it. Do all 996Cabs now come with the hardtop or is that an option (heavyweight option). Besides the back seats in a Cab are really worthless (moreso that any other 911 variant) why does not Porsche just put the roll bar behind the seats instead or make mount points for a roll bar to be sold like the hard top?
Sorry to go so far off topic from the original question

Cabs are ok at the track too, you just have to pop up the roll bars. The hardtop is standard and weighs 70lbs.
Tracking a 996 cab with a hardtop is up to the local PCA chapter. THe one I checked with in the NY area said cabs with hardtops are fine.
Hardtops come "standard" on all cabs, but you can delete it for credit. It's not as heavy as it could be, it's aluminum. I've got one for winter driving and in case I want to give DE a shot.
Back seats are very useful, depending on the size of the passenger. MY C4 Cab saved me. Without being able to get kids in the back, I would have been forced to get an M3. This is the ultimate SUV -- fits a family of four, all wheel drive ragtop -- forget the Pepper.
WOOOOOO, I never knew that! My 993 Cab had nothing of the sort which is the primary reason I would never consider a 996 Cab.
Now, I know better. Thanks, Rob.
