I know others have used other mounting methods, with eye-bolts instead of the purpose built Brey-Krause brackets, but you will have to be a bit more inventive.

The lap belts attach to the mounting points built into the GT3 seats on both sides, and the anti-sub belt uSes the anti-sub bracket also designed for those seats.

Looking at my set up with stock seats and using the Schroth detailed instructions, the only difference would be that the anti-sub belts would go under the seat rather than over.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am getting ready to install my GT-3 seats and need some help on what "extra pieces" I need to install.
I am going to use the stock belts AND 6-point harnesses. I would like to leave the stock belts in place all the time and when not using the 6-points just feed them through the seats etc. during the week.
There have been various posts about Brey-Krause "brackets" and other add-ons but nothing explaining specifically what these things do or which option or combination is best for a particular application. I have seen some "brackets" that Gert sells for the GT-3 seats that I believe are necessary to mount underneath the seat in order to mount the anti-sub belts.
The Brey-Krause site to me is worthless since it has limited descriptions and just pictures of parts without showing or describing how and where they are used.
Can someone give me the executive summary on any extra brackets I may need in regard to my requirements as outlined above?
TIA!!!
Lance, I was looking at their site the other day and they had downloadable PDF files that detailed installation (photos were included). Although I didn't look at the GT3 seat hardware the seat belt harness document seemed rather detailed. You might be able to get the information you need from a document about the mounting brackets.
Lance,
As far as the GT3 seats are concerned, they should bolt right in. I believe you started a thread on that a while back.
As far as the 6 point harness is concerned, the Schroth belts come with pretty detailed instructions. I would assume the other 6 point harnesses would as well. Looking at my set up with stock seats and using the Schroth detailed instructions, the only difference would be that the anti-sub belts would go under the seat rather than over.
I got all the low down on what parts to use from the vendor that sold me the belts and the harness bar. I started with knowing nothing at all. All the advice and parts were right on. I would suggest you talk to the actual vendor rather than BK. BK sells to the vendor, so their client is the vendor, not you directly.
Lance,
Ive just gone through the exact same issues you are dealing with as I am adding a 6 point harness to my existing GT3 seats. Heres my take on this.
The Brey Krause mounting hardware is designed to work with clip-on belts. The R9001 bracket goes on the tunnel side of the seat and mounts at the factory location along with the factory receptacle. The R9003 mounts on the floor on the door side at the factory mounting point. The R9030 bracket mounts under the seat. You now have fittings at all locations where you need to attach lap and anti-sub belts with clip-on attachments that can also easily be removed. One downside is that, as far as I know, the R9001 and R9003 can only be bought in pairs, so even if you are doing only one seat it will still cost you $130 total at $65 per pair of brackets. The anti-sub bracket is $85, so this adds up to a pretty hefty investment just in mounting hardware (not counting the $550 for the harness bar or the belts). I know others have used other mounting methods, with eye-bolts instead of the purpose built Brey-Krause brackets, but you will have to be a bit more inventive.
After considering all alternatives I went with the 6-point Schroth harness that Gert sells and the Brey Krause R1030 harness bar. This Schroth harness is designed specifically for use with the GT3 seats. The lap belts attach to the mounting points built into the GT3 seats on both sides, and the anti-sub belt uSes the anti-sub bracket also designed for those seats. (Its about half the price of the Brey Krause piece). Full utility of the stock seat belts is maintained and no additional hardware is required. There are two downsides to this setup. First, the belts cannot be easily detached, as with clip-on belts. I will have to hide them under the seats (Im also considering just doing away with the stock belts). Second, the lap belt is 2 wide. This is not a problem for autocrossing, which is what I do, but for PCA time trials or DE events a 3 lap belt is required. I figured I could upgrade the lap belts in the future if that was ever a problem. You should take this into consideration based on what your requirements are.
Hope this helps.
Mike,
I looked at the BK website, and the R9030 "Attaches to R-907X series side mounts". What's the 907x side mount? Does the R9030 bolt directly under the GT3 seat? Does the GT3 seat have it's own sub mounting bracket? I have all the other mounting hardware, and I'm interested for if and when I get GT3 seats.
The 907X series side mounts are adaptors for mounting various brands of seats to the seat tracks. Since the GT3 seat comes completly assembled with tracks and mounting brackets (at least mine did) you won't need those adaptors. The GT3 seats bolt in right to the factory locations.
Yes, the R9030 bolts to existing mounting points under the seat. If you look under the seats you can see the two bolts on each side near the front of the seat track where this piece would go. The Porsche sub mounting bracket mounts in the same place but has no provision for clip on belts, only "wrap on". Hope this clarifies things.
