I recently bought a set of used 3.4L mufflers from eBay, which I intend to mod for better sound for my C4. I paid around $200 for them and close to $100 for shipping (too much, I know), and I don't know how much it will cost to have them modified at a muffler/welding shop. The reason I went that route was purely fiscally driven; I just couldn't afford to spend $1-2K on a new exhaust system. Then I see a set of Schnell Performance mufflers on sale for $699, and figure I'll be within a couple hundred dollars of that price with the modified stock mufflers. Does it make sense to modify heavy stock cans when new aftermarket ones are only $699? Anyone have experience with Schnell Performance, or have an opinion on the quality or performance of their mufflers? -sg 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 2002 BMW R1150rt

Schnell is not high on the popularity list of mods... hack a set of 3.6 cans... worth doing.
