Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While coming out of a driveway that hits the street at a steep angle, I scraped the bottom front of the nosecone on the pavement. I got a couple of good scratches there, but not really visible except from underneath. My car has the ArmourFend transparent bra, and the confrontation with the pavement has left the bottom edge of the film a bit raggedy. My temptation is to take a single-edged razor blade and cut away the raggedy stuff and get a smooth edge so the film doesn't start to pull up. Anyone think this is a bad idea? Would I be better off (though it's not terribly convenient) taking this to the place where the film was installed and having them do it? Can a good detailer to it? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

be carefull not to cut all the way throught the armour fend - form what I have seen you can cut it 3/4 of the way down and it will peel off - there might be a chemical solution they use as well so you don't damage or stretch the paint

POST 3Original post

I have the 3M product on my car. I watched as it was being installed and asked the installer lots of questions. He told me the same as Darren911; not to cut all the way through the material to avoid cutting the paint. He made it look easy but I would probably bring it back to him for a trim before I would cut it myself for fear of cutting through the film. I believe they spray an alcohol water mixture on the car when applying to give them time to adjust before the glue "sticks". Don't think you would need this for trimming. Hope this helps. Rob
