Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

34 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was driving home from San Fransico and hit a dog on the freeway The front clip is gone (I sure HOPE it's gone, they shouldn't *fix* it!) along with some underbody damage. Damd Dog! Anyone know of a good body shop in Northern California? #2, I have the aero kit, is that a special front clip? #3, I really like the turbo front clip, if they replace it, rather than just having my $500 deductable come out my **** for nothing, where can I and how much is a Turbo front clip? #4, anyone have any other front clip ideas?

POST 2Original post

Let me guess, you do not have a pet, unless it is a catus. Jeff

POST 3Original post

Well, obviously that dog was pretty stupid. The owner was just plain neglectful. Poor Porsche, I feel for you. Why not put a new GT3 front clip?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have not seen the new GT3 front clip. Any pictures?

POST 5Original post

I would agree with the comment earlier. I would puke if I hit a dog. That's just a terrible thing. Most people consider their dog a child, but whatever. Concerning the front end you should get the gt2 front end gt3/aero is just too minute differentially from the reg. YOu know you want to. Yeah it's like 1700 or thereabouts but if you have a deductable of x then whatever right?

POST 6Original post

WHAT!!!!? a dog on the freeway!!!???? jesus... the Turbo front spoiler is a great idea.

POST 7Original post

I undrestand the pain but how about some sympathy for the dog ....

POST 8Original post

I've heard Bodystyles in San Jose is pretty good but very expensive and turn around time is rediculous. But I guess if you want a good job the turn around time shouldn't matter much.

POST 9Original post

The car can be fixed in what ever ways that pleases you, wish we can say the same of the dog. ofcourse it was not your fault, but the dog owners'.

POST 10Original post

The new GT-3 front bumper cover is the best-looking 996 front so far in my opinion. Try Classic Autobody in Berkeley, I just repainted mine there very recently. It is truly a shame about the dog and its owner. But it is better to hit the dog than swerve into another car, sometimes it is the only thing to do.

POST 11Original post

I feel for the poor dog. Not some plastic or metal. Easily replaced with money, Not the dog. Grow up

POST 12Original post

I have a dog, and I love it. I would never allow my dog on the street without a leash, much less a freeway. But the dog is gone. Let's concentrate on the living. If you want a big change, go GT2 or Turbo. If you want a small subtle change go GT3.

POST 13Original post

I understand his anger. It's frustrating when expensive mistakes happen to us. The dog is NOT a person. I'm amazed at all the people getting upset about this dog they didn't even know. So he didn't show any sympathy, so what? This is a Porsche board not a dog lovers board. I love dogs. I have had dogs, I currently have a bird that I love as much as I did my dogs. I also hunt ducks and geese becaues they are delicious. Animals are not people even though when they are your pet, you can love them as such. Come on people. Give him a break.

POST 14Original post

Sell your Car! When ever you hit a dog or a cat thair soul will bring you very BAD LUCK. You must sell your car than you will be fine.

POST 15Original post

I'm guessing this dog was already dead, before it was hit by the Porsche. The GT2 front looks great on lowered cars, else it looks stupid.

POST 16Original post

Of course is sad for the dog but how can be this possible!, the owner is guilty and responsable of his dog's accident.

POST 17Original post

So far i've almost hit over 4 cats and 2 birds with my 996 and belive me i dont run after them .. they just jump infront of my car and i have no chance to brake . once i was washing my car and found a "Smoked Birdy" ! in the front spoiler stuck on the right radiator.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A greyhound I think I will just leave it with teh aero spoiler. The GT2 looks a little ... too much, or me.

POST 20Original post

Wilbur is right, you must sell your car. and also do penance for only thinking of your f.g piece of metal. drive a Taurus for 5 years and maybe the Lord will forgive you. Baaaaaaaaaaaad ju ju on u. George, sick Al Sharpton on him, please

POST 21Original post

Hey, Who cares about the damage to your car!! Maybe you should show a little compassion and then your carma would improve. Morons like you make me sick. It's an animal harmless, creature what would happen if it was your child wife or family member? I'm sure it would'nt be damm wife or damm child? Grow up!!!

POST 22Original post

I reluctantly add my comments here... 1. I think the title of this thread could be read many ways. So never assume you know the meaning or tone of someone's comments. 2. Personally I've felt HORRIBLE when I run over an animal, and I have screemed out loud and sweared at the animal in response to running out in front of me and making ME feel bad for it. Nothing to do with not having pity on the poor animal, in fact quite the opposite. 3. Scott from Houston is right. It's a Porsche board so whether you agree with what you PERCEIVE his feelings are towards this dog ignore them and focus on what his question was. That's the reason for this board's existence anyway. My .02

POST 23Original post

Ummmm... hopefully his child, wife, or family member would have a little more sense than wander in the middle of the freeway You guys need to give the guy a break. Last year, some ****ing deer ran right into one of my loaner cars. I did everything I could to try to avoid him, but he decides to broad side me, since deer are one of the most stupid animals ever. We definitely need open hunting season in our hills. I wonder how the venison would have tasted. Dogs are above deer in the animal hierarchy, but my point is that you can't do anything about a stupid animal, just like you can't do anything about stupid people. Personally, it would make me mad if one's stupidity cost me money and higher insurance premiums. You guys need to put things in perspective. I have had dogs and love dogs, but come on, this had to have been one stupid or insane dog and one really retarded owner. It's one thing to let your dogs wander if you live in suburbia, but in the middle of San Francisco? Whatever happened to owner responsibility?

POST 24Original post

Whoa!..... getting quite offensive now panerawatchamthingy. Dogs, like children and wifes should be kept under supervision. Dogs should be on a lead. If the dog was on a lead then it almost certainly would not have happened. Wives generally don't go hanging about in the middle of the highway and parents should be responsible enough to keep the kids off the highway too. I don't think Mitch was like err aiming for the dog. So lay off with the compassion thing. In the UK, if you hit a dog you have to report it to the police by law. The nice thing is that if you find the owner, you can claim compensation for the damage. If I was going along the road and a dog ran out I would NOT swerve to miss it. If I did I may swerve into a bus-stop full of kids! heaven forbid. I would then be well peaved at the damage to my car and would be well pissed with the owner of the dog. Of course I would feel pitty for the poor mislead canine but ****, how many flies bounce off your windscreen!!!

POST 25Original post

He obviously was not aiming for the dog or out dog hunting in his 996 so lay off of him! This IS a 996 board so if you have an answer to his 996 question respond, if not don't...

POST 26Original post

Yes, back to the question. What's a good Body Shop in Northern California? I'm planning on getting side Skirts for my 911 and wanted to know a good place to get them painted and installed. -Kirb

POST 27Original post

Try Modern Bench Operations in Campbell, CA. I've taken my car there and they do a great job. ask for Tamara or Pete (owner). -Ron

POST 28Original post

A single kind word about the dog--before getting to the car--would have deflected all criticizers. Not a word about the dog. Sad. Chris

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, all you dog lovers had better get to your local pound asap! I hear they kill HUNDREDS of them every week! Quick! Go save them! Look, I like dogs as much as the next guy, I had a few of them and they become part of your family. However, I have nothing kind to say about a 60lb dog in the freeway that does $4700+ damage to my new car. The dog was A: stupid B: Crazy C: Sick and most likely a stray that would have been killed by the local animal control anyways.

POST 30Original post

Ship the car to L.A. for repair. Custom Classic [phone removed]

POST 31Original post

ok people. I almost hit a deer doing 80 mph. I would have been talking to G*D and not to silly PETA people. Lets just focusing on getting GT2 look out of it.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I decided to go ahead and keep the stock aero front end, but I will be doing some other mods to my car that will make it one of a kind. I don't think the GT2 front on a c2 would look right. Though I went to a porsche dealer off of highway 101 in the bay area (california) and looked at a few GT2's in person yesterday to make sure... Still don't think it would look right. They had a tacky looking yellow one with yellow seat backs and yellow stiching and carbon fiber trim.. At least the silver one looked good

POST 33Original post

Gery, That's what rollcages are for... And open hunting season.

POST 34Original post

It is all Darwinian IMHO! The dog was: A: stupid B: Crazy C: Sick and not meant to be. Don't flame me as "it is what it is" so deal with it. Yes, I am not PC!
