Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm shopping for an extended warranty and I'm finding them to be VERY pricy (approx. $4000 for a 4 yr coverage plan) for a 1999 C2 currently out of warranty.
If you have an extended warranty, what do you have and how much did you pay?
Thanks,
Mark
Be careful...there are a lot of scams out there IMO. I was reading last week about Warranty Gold having troubles, lacking funds to pay claims, at the same time they e mail me almost daily with "deals". A lot of these companies are going Chapter 11. I received a card in the mail from a company in Miami, claiming to be the "official underwriter" which is not true. They wanted $4500 for 5yr/100k, my car has 19.5k miles after 4 years. At this point, I've decided to go without and take my chances.
I just bought a 1999 C4 in Cincinnati, and I paid for a Porsche-certified 2-yr/100k mile warranty. I was shown the actual Porsche price sheet for the certified warranty: it cost ~$1,600 for this warranty, and I believe it's worth it (specifically because it's Porsche-certified).
I bought Warrenty Gold for $1900.00 with no deductible, $1800.00 with $100.00 deductable for 60,000 miles or 4 years. Did alot of research and they seemed to be one of the best but now I'm a little concerned after reading DJ 996's post. DJ 996---where did you read that about Warranty Gold?? They still keep e-mailing me deals even after I bought it!!
I went with 1sourceautowarranty and paid $2600 for 5 yr/100k total mile coverage with no deductible. I have successfully made a claim against the policy, so I'm crossing my fingers in the event that something big needs fixing.
Well you guys are lucky. Here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, internet warraties cannot be sold. We are stuck going to the dealer and paying megabuck$.
I think Porsche should have a factory extended warranty like Mercedes Starmark. I makes you wonder about Porsche's confidence in the product since they:
1) don't have a factory certified used car program
2) don't have a factory extended warranty

Mark,
My milage was around 22k, give or take a few, and I was in the last couple of months of the factory warranty. Is your car still under the factory coverage? If not, maybe that's the difference?
If that's not it, I could send you my representative's contact info. Not sure if that would help or not. That price, ~$4000, is about what AAA quoted me. Did you check with them yet? I'd be very comfortable (other than with price) with AAA still be around for the warranty duration.
Trojan Man,
Actually, 1Source does sell in California - I'm living proof. Unfortunately for you, though, they don't cover cars with turbos.
Read this - maybe California did us a favor in making Ext Warranties harder to buy on the internet by delaying dealer purchase decisions for some of you ! http://www.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=44300
I posted the stuff about WG. I'm the guilty one. Yeah, it was me. I researched the living crap out of this subject, bought the WG policy last year.
First claim went a few weeks ago, and my service advisor calls to tell me the warranty company had no money.
After some furious wrangling and phone calls, here is what I know about WG. They placed their funds for claims with third party administrators (they all do this) and that administrator has had some problems. They are domiciled in the Caymans, and Cayman law won't allow WG to withdraw their funds (though they are separate funds from the admin company). Therefore, the money set aside for claims was put there by WG, to be handled by the third party.
Anyway, WG is working feverishly to get the contracts moved and the funds back, and should know in a week or so. I will post the results.
I expect my claim will get taken care of, but it might be a few weeks out.
In addition, after referring several others to WG, I called about the non Porsche coverage. They got upside down on it, and stopped for a short while. They'll be back.
OK, that's all for now. Details to follow.
Go drive.
Eric,
Keep me posted on WG. I bought it also and did alot of research beforehand. Haven't had to use it yet and hopefully won't until they straighten out their act. What was your claim for?? Just curious.
