Suggestion

yal will have to check the archives from about a year or two back when joe's fabspeed was slamming me for doing his modification for two parts from Napa Auto Parts at $12.66 which included entirely removing (and capping) the airbox muffler - which he didn't at the time.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just had the EVO cold air intake installed on my 2002 C2 Coupe. I'm not sure if it truly resulted in any HP increase or quicker throttle response (if any???), but I primarily had the mod done to see if it improved the sound of the car. I really can hear a difference in the car's sound as it appears to be a little deeper and louder during acceleration. While the car does seem quicker, it might be the adrenaline shot from the sound. I plan to do H&R Springs next. Based on some feedback here, unless I plan to track my car a lot, the Springs will suffice to lower and stiffen the car sufficently.

POST 2Original post

Hey man sounds good. What made you choose that one over the Fabspeed one?? I heard the Fabspeed one was good, but haven't heard buch about yours. BTW, where in Boca are you?? I've never seen you around. You seen me around? I am the "kid" with the Silver Dinan M5 with the rims, ehxaust, and AMG ETR license plate. I go to Spanish River HS. Just wondering, hey if I get the GT3 we should hook up sometime. Evan

POST 3Original post

Boca996-is it the cone type Evo intake? Regards. Mike

POST 4Original post

na it is the fabspeed like one from what it sounds like that replaces the hose and has a cap. The bummer about that is that you can't remove the silncer? Is that right or can you? It appears that it just caps it. If that is the case then given the same cost the fab would be better as it increases the airbox volume. In any event I think they are both way too expensive for what they are. Anyone know where to just get the stupid silicone hose and the Plug it?

POST 5Original post

AMG ETR, if I'm reading your post correctly, you go to High School and you are getting a 2004 GT3. I guess things have changed, but my parents did buy me a used 67 Firebird 400 in High School. Maybe with inflation thats equal to a 2004 GT3. I'm not giving you a hard time, I'm just jealous bob

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The EVO they installed was the one that removes the silencer, replaces the hose, cap and some other parts inside. It doesn't just replace the stupid cap and hose. As I indicated in my original post, I wasn't really looking for more HP but primarily for an improved intake sound. Some drivers might disagree with the cost/benefit tradeoff, but I like it. Just a matter of preference.

My family is huge on cars (yes even my step-mom), and they have always been important in our lives. My dad is also a partner in an exotic car dealership, and I am the detailer at this dealership. My dad buys these cars for me for a couple of reasons. One reason is I am basically a good kid. I don't do drugs, go out late, or do things of a normal HS kid. I am also a fairly good student, and he knows that I take care of my cars. I realize its a bit out there that I would have a car like this, and want a car like the GT3, but if you met my family and me you would probably understand. Hope this helps a bit <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Evan

POST 9Original post

Evan, thats great your family is into cars, enjoy. Now getting back to this Cold Air Intake post, I also have the the Fabspeed Intake set-up. It does have an awesome sound and I notice that when I'm under a carport it sounds 10 times louder. bob

POST 11Original post

It sure feels like it is and Fabspeed details the gains that you get. bob

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree that it feels faster; however, it may the adrenaline from the sound. In any event, I really am happy I did the mod.

POST 13Original post

now if someone could only tell me where to buy that stupid silicone hose so I can do it on my own!

POST 14Original post

Are there any real warranty issues with the mod (or is there a way to do the mod so that it's not noticable from just looking at the engine)? I have a Porsche warranty until September, then an aftermarket for another 3 years, and I'm 100% sure that given the chance, either one would look to blame any engine issues I might have on the mod. That said, I'm really intrigued and want to try the Fabspeed mod... thoughts?
