Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anybody have HRE Wheels on their cars? I am thinking about their 540R wheels in Black or Techart Formula GT in Black on My Black C4 Cab. Any suggestions or opinions? Peter Liao

POST 2Original post

Peter, I have been thinking about black wheels for my C4-S as well. I'm a little worried that it will be too much with no contrast and thought about doing something with a polished lip or even a grey or titanium wheel just to break up the black a little bit. What model HRE's have you looked at? Were you looking at completely black or just the center black? Any other brands you're considering?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LanceK: So far, I like the 540R from HRE, <img src="http://216.73.121.214/wheels/images/enlarge/enlarge-540r.jpg" alt=" - " /> with only the center black. or Techart <img src="http://www.techart.de/Programm_fuer_Facelift/Bilder/formulagt.jpg" alt=" - " /> <a href="http://www.techart.de/Programm_fuer_Facelift/Bilder/formulagt.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.techart.de/Programm_fuer_Facelift/Bilder/formulagt.jpg</a> but I wish there was a way to see them on my car before I buy..... I am a little worried about that too... but I want to do something other then plane old silver or chrome. If there is anybody out there that has a pic of black rims on black cars I would really appreciated it if they post it. thanks Peter <img src="http://www.techart.de/Programm_fuer_Facelift/Bilder/formulagt.jpg" alt=" - " />

POST 5Original post

I have heard better things about the HRE rims, TechArt I have heard causes some vibration. Check my signature I went with the Champion 3-piece wheels.

POST 6Original post

Peter, is your car black? I guess I'll see you on the track on Monday. The HRE's look hard to clean. too many nooks and crannies

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Doug: I am looking for an aggressive look. I've seen black rims on some cars and I like the look. But I don't know how it will look on black cars. Just hoping someone on here would have a pic of this combination before I do something I'd regreat. Peter

POST 8Original post

I would try the black HRE 540R or the black Cargraphic racing 19. Much more aggressive with that 3-3.5" poilsh lip.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Doug: Having owned both, which one do you think looks better on your car? Peter

Lee: You would'nt be Peter Lee would you? Peter

POST 11Original post

Not sure if this is an issue to you, from the replies on the thread it doesn't seem to be, but the Techart Formulas are a heavy wheel. Good looking IMHO but HEAVY. Great for posing but will dilute your driving experience.

POST 13Original post

dpblessing I'm not sure what size you are reffering to, I presume 10"X18. The Techart wheels are 25% heavier than stock (presuming the figures you have been given are correct) this is a big increase in "unsprung weight" -this is weight hanging off the shocks, not the same as weight in the body of the car and will make a big difference to the feel of the steering and handling -search "unsprung weight" on 993 forum, some knowledgable people give some great explanations of why you want to keep it down. The RH wheels do not have a particularly good reputation in Europe, not considered of high enough quality for Porsche fitment.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks alot you all for all the information. Actually, the weight was my second concern that you guys addressed.. My last car was a 330ci conv. and when I put on Hartge wheels(alot heavier then the stock wheels.) my car was considerably slower. Personally, I really like both wheels and think they give the car very different personalities. Now that I know going up to HRE 19" would only weight little less then 3-4 Lbs.more as I currently have the 5 spoke light weight wheels I feel alot better about making the switch. I'll just keep the lightweight factory wheels in the garage for track days. Honestly, I was more hesitant about making the switch before. Doug: thank you very much for all the information you gave me. I appreciate your help. with all that said. gotta go find a techart catalog and make my decision. and Peter Lee: I'll be calling you if I decide on HRE's Thanks again everyone. Peter

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks again doug: I think that made up my mind to go with HRE's. It just looks better. now gotta find my self good prices... . endless looking. I don't even look this hard when it comes to presents for my wife Peter Liao
