Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In checking the condition of the A/C air filter yesterday I noted that the battery is sorta in the path of incoming fresh airflow. Some years ago our 88 911 started over-charging the battery and the fumes, even with separated fresh source, were nothing less than horrid. It occurs to me that were the 996 voltage regulator to fail in the same fashion someone could be at serious risk. I would assume the battery gas could be deadly. Comments?

Porsche batteries have a vent tube the vents gases out to underside of the car. Only some aftermarket batteries have the same feature so buyer beware. (photo courtesy of Tom Morris) <img src="http://boxsters.addr.com/images/hacks/battery-area.jpg" alt=" - " />
