Suggestion

The only problem that is why I passed on it other than can bus which I have known about, is that it doesn't use a code, but get it from the ecu and would create the problem -

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 01 has the stock radio with cassette , 6CD and DSP. I was wondering, given all of the upgrade threads, if anyone has the CR/Radio version lying around that they could be enticed to part with. Thanks in advance, Ed

POST 2Original post

I have a '02 996 Cab in which I removed the radio/cassette player that came with the upgraded BOSE 6 CD changer stereo system. I bought a Traffic Pro and put that in its place. If this is of interest, let me know. It is in mint condition but I wanted a nav system. I can check the model number when I get home.

POST 3Original post

Andyg, Which model do you have? I may be interested.

POST 4Original post

Take off CDR-220 ( OEM CD/radio head ) units sell for $400-500 bucks in like new condition . New ones oredered through dealer parts are now over $1000 list , with best discounts in the $800-900 range.

POST 5Original post

no way you can get a cdr220 for 250 max all day. You can get it for 200 if you take your time no problem.

POST 7Original post

I'm refering to the brand new take off 2002 ones with the all matte black ( not shiny ) detach face and matte ***** . Yeah, used "shiny" 2000-2001 models should go for lower . Prices inched up for the new take off '02 ones when factory raised price of theirs $250 a few months ago. If anyone is selling brand new take off '02 CDR-220s for $200 , I'll be glad to buy them up !!

POST 9Original post

It's a good thing you passed on the CDR-23 . That's because there is NO MARKET for a CDR-23 radio/CD unit - it only works on 2003s via the MOST bus digital network and is already the standard radio ( cassette no longer standard). That's why you can't add aftermarket amps or head units to 2003s yet- you need to write special software to allow everything to communicate , including the alarm system tie in. The CDR-220 works on all Boxsters / 996 , even 993s , etc -most of which came with the radio/cassette - a huge replacement/upgrade aftermarket. Funny the prices I see posted on take off gear. As an example , people always say take off clear non-Litronic 996 headlights sell for $200 ( wishful thinking ) . When I posted my take-off 996 set on some boards a year and a half ago, I had 15 private offers from Boxster and early 996 owners , some saying they would top any other offer by $50. Sold them to a Boxster owner (upgrading to " clear" front and rear lights) for $450 plus shipping ! Makes me wonder if the $200 prices for CDR-220s are what SPR wants to set as the BUYING price.

I have a Traffic Pro and made the mistake of selling my CDR220. I'm thinking of selling the car and would very much like to get a spare CDR 220 for when I sell the car (MY2000) JM
