Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am having the center console painted and cannot figure out how the lid is removes from the glove box aft of the e-brake handle. Everything else snaps off easily, but I am stumped on that. Can anyone help? Thanks, Pat

POST 2Original post

You need to remove the the rear add on , then you need to remove the braket holding the nylon strap , I know this is not so clear, I think i have pics of when i didn mine, ill have a look when i get home.

POST 4Original post

I had to saw off the pop rivets to have access to the retaining strap and related spring as well. I found all of my info on renntech.org. This is a start http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...center+console Adam

POST 5Original post

My console didnt have pop rivets they had screws, I recall simply unscrewing them....Thats strange but hey one never knows

POST 6Original post

kilrgt: I recall mine looked similar but it was definately a pop rivet. Were you able to use a torx or other screwdriver? Also, mine is a 2001 versus your which is a 2004. Adam

POST 7Original post

The first two years were the cheap plastic hinge. After Porsche replaced a few hundred consoles with that flawed design, they developed the hinge kit. Pop riveted into the back, and with the old plastic built in shaved off, it provides a more sturdy hinge mount. The screws in that shot will relieve the holdback unit, but you still need to get the entire hinge pin and assembly out. We do send full instructions with our painted consoles so installation is usually a snap. Email me: [email removed] and I'll try to snag the instruction sheet for ya, bro.
