Suggestion · Original poster

I don't want to replace the cluster as thats pretty expensive for a single light, I am thinking some sort of electrical connection perhaps I could check to make sure its not loose or something.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2000 996. Recently my low fuel light only comes on intermittently when the fuel is low. It does not come on when the fuel is not low, but if the fuel is low it will come on for a while, then turn off, and then come on again, no specific pattern. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or something to try to fix? Brian

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Small update on this. Had the porsche tech check it and they said it is not the sending unit. They suspect its the instrument cluster. Anyone have any ideas what I could check there? I don't want to replace the cluster as thats pretty expensive for a single light, I am thinking some sort of electrical connection perhaps I could check to make sure its not loose or something.

POST 3Original post

LINK to auction this fella seems to have listed this wrong... there isn't much action on it and the price is below $2 right now.... yea $2 ! ends soon...... might be worth picking up and trying if the price ends up low enough?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ivangene, Thanks for the link, I did win that auction. I have white gauges and this one has black. however, I believe I can swap those over, and my goal is to somehow just transfer the minimum I need too. I don't want to swap the entire cluster. if I can just do like the right pod or something like that I will, just the minimum to fix my light issue, as I don't want to have to deal with any mileage discrepancies, having the VIN updated in the cluster, or any other issues. I am pretty sure my factory white gauges are just inserts I can swap, but not totally sure.
