Suggestion

I could very well imagine that if the battery was a bit weak due to age/wear and tear it might have enough juice that the engine continues to run perhaps with no untoward behavior but some voltage level sensitive controllers might register some errors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

ok, I did a search and nothing. My car was out in the rain for a few hours and I went to take it out...I got a PMS and ABS warning lights on the dash. I am hoping for a blown fuse or....anyone have this happen? 03 c4s 67 k. I have taken the air box off, cleaned the TB and dried off what i could. macster...you are the man any ideas....alp 03 u too? did something get wet ? I have always garaged it....and it has been a great car. my DD.... thanks fellas in advance

POST 3Original post

The PSM and ABS combo can be triggered by several things. I occasionally get that combo if the car has been sitting for several days without the battery tender being connected (seems to be low-voltage related, which I believe I see more of because of my underdrive pulley). Digging up the thread for the other common causes... I'll tack them on here shortly. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...n-my-case.html The above thread mentions the brake pedal switch (one possible culprit) as well as dodgy tail light bulbs (another suspect). Good luck. If it's any consolation, the ignition switch gave up on my '99 today, so you're not the only one with a project lined up. 10-15 year old cars need a little TLC.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok, so went for a high speed drive...lights are gone....crazy stuff....thanks all

POST 5Original post

Generally just restarting the car will clear that particular combo.

POST 6Original post

hotelguy, This may sound silly, but how old is your battery? Do you drive the car often? Back when I bought my 04 C2, I had the same thing. I tried the brake light switch and no go. Check the battery - it was a hair low below spec. Hooked up a trickle charger overnight (8 - 10 hours or so) and has never happened again. Previous owner rarely drove the car, if ever. Mike

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mike, car is my DD as i said, but the battery is from 2007....but seems to be fine....that was a ton of rain today. might be time for a new one.....he he.... best HG

Sorry but I have been occupied by family medical issues. While I have had my cars out in the rain they have never manifested any PSM or ABS issues. The Turbo has misfired a couple of times, once when left out overnight in a heavy rain storm, and again once when parked in a hotel parking lot overnight when a heavy fog came ashore. At other times the Turbo's serpentine belt has slipped. It does this a bit after washing and sometimes a lot after being in the rain. One time this rainy season the belt slipped for over 30 seconds and seemed lots longer. But still no ABS or PSM errors. However, I have to point out the car's electrical power is being supplied solely by the battery when the belt is slipping. I could very well imagine that if the battery was a bit weak due to age/wear and tear it might have enough juice that the engine continues to run perhaps with no untoward behavior but some voltage level sensitive controllers might register some errors. This then could explain what you experienced.
