Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So my top stopped working and when checking the hydraulic fluid level, I found this box lying on the insulation below the carpet / cover its attached to what looks like a co-axial cable that runs forward on the left side of the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my top stopped working and when checking the hydraulic fluid level, I found this box lying on the insulation below the carpet / cover its attached to what looks like a co-axial cable that runs forward on the left side of the car. I don't think its factory as its not screwed down. No markings on the plastic case of any kind! Any ideas?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So here's the pic it didn't upload first time

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its very small for a amp its about 2.5" square and only the one cable

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I'm thinking it could be the rear receiver for the K40 radar detector the PO installed, it just seems like a strange location?

POST 6Original post

Is that below the carpet near the rear window? That could be a satellite radio antenna, a nav antenna, a cell phone antenna...

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 11426346

An amp will have two connections - in and out. That's only got one connection, my guess is an antenna or receiver.

POST 9Original post

Seems like a K40 sensor based on Google Image results I see...

POST 10Original post

Maybe some closer photos from all sides and unplug and one photo of the connector end. Google image search my turn up better results. Have to assume there are no markings anywhere right?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all, Yes its under the 'carpet' behind the rear seat where the roof folds, certainly looks similar. It just seems a strange location, there's a lot of metal between it and a clear view behind.
