Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Concern for whacking a deer has caused me to adjust my driving hours when possible.

I'm pretty sure he was running with some bad friends who put him up to it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yes this is the dreaded topic, albeit somewhat better than I hit one, i had a deer hit me in my 996 last week. I was driving down a 2 lane road and had the deer hit me in my left front fender, crumpling the door and denting the fender pretty bad. I was perfectly fine just a freak accident.
This is going to be the most expensive deer yet though!!
that sucks. hope she gets patched up nicely and good to hear your all good.
EDIT: 25K? for something that will buff out? haha
please post once more as well so you can hit 10K
Sorry to hear this. I hit a deer about 8 years ago in a Suzuki Swift and it wrote my car off. It was one big monster buck that ran out in front of me while I was going 100kph (62mph). Took out the front end, (rad, fan, front bumper, hood - crushing the air bag sensor, etc.) and then came through the front windshield just as both airbags went off. One of his antlers missed my face by 6 inches. I was lucky as I used to wear glasses for driving (before my lasic treatment) and the glass from the windshield pitted one of the lenses. The cop got the buck so he was happy.
All that counts is that your ok - cars can be repaired or replaced.
I also hit a large deer, but it was about 50 years ago in a 1953 Buick. Deer did not survive and just had a minor dent in the Buick. Buddy and I pulled the left fender away from tire and drove away. Cars were pretty solid back then. HA!
Concern for whacking a deer has caused me to adjust my driving hours when possible. At twilight, AM and PM, I often see them on or near the roadway here in North Carolina...even see them in broad daylight. Right at 20,000 deer-vehicle collisions a year here.
Buddy in high school had some giant 1970s Oldsmobuick that smoked a deer and put a diagonal crack in the front grill. Made it look like it had jagged teeth. No other damage. We dubbed it deerslayer.
The biggest animal I have hit with my p-car was a possum and that felt like my whole front bumper was gone but I had no damage except the front lip needed new clips. I can only imagine what it will be like hitting a deer or any other big animal like that.
Dave Fox has it right. Avoid driving two lane roads in either morning or evening twilight. That time of day is called "deer thirty" in many places for a reason.
Be especially careful on calm days. Deer have pretty lousy eyesight and rely on their sense of smell to detect predictors (as if there are any besides hunters). As a result, they tend to bed down and stay immobile on windy days.
If you drive a lot at night or in the morning in areas with large deer populations, which seems to be anywhere these days, I would advise getting a whistle and mounting it on your car. They take in the oncoming air and emit a high pitched frequency deer can hear but you can't that causes the deer to hopefully clear out away from the road before you come through. My friends out west swear by them.

I usually don't woory about the deer since I drive an F250 diesel, a 73 Mustang or an old harley. They are all so loud, the deer all turn and run. Since, I have only had the Porsche a few months I really didn't think about it. I am going to have to be more cognizant of the times I drive it!
I had a Miata before that I loved. I saw so many deer pass in front of me on the same route home that I knew eventually my card would get punched, so I sold it. Miss that car. F150 now, so BRING EM!
I used to drive from Indy to St.Louis three to five times a month. Seeing all the carcasses on the side of the road scared me. (Much of the time I had a Civic Si. I would lose for sure!)
Once, I was passing a semi which hit a carcass in the road. I got a 'meat shower'. I left the remains on the car overnight. The wife asked "what's that?". "Venison". Funny watching the bile well up...

Haven't had any close encounters in a car but I used to ride my bike to the gym at 5am a couple of years ago. That was until I had a deer run right in front of me and missed me by about 3-4 feet!
I live in a suburban environment so I was surprised to see him there crossing a four-lane road with neighborhoods on either side.
I was coming home from a date many years ago when I noticed that a greyhound was on an intercept course with my car. From the time I noticed this to the time of impact was maybe a second - not nearly long enough to hit the brakes. I was still forming the word ("fuuuuuuu") when that sucker launched himself over the front of my car and kept running. Greyhounds sprint at about 40MPH, and this guy was coming in from my 10:00 at full bore.
I'm pretty sure he was running with some bad friends who put him up to it. Nearly soiled myself.
I bet you saw that all happening in front of your eyes in super slow-mo. Glad he didn't get nailed but I bet he left a couple of droppings down the road a bit.
Better late than never and a free rear spoiler paint job to calm your nerves for making you wait over a month.
Glad you got your car back, just in time with the great weather.
